Did some early morning skating on the freshly groomed green trails for a good hour. We then went to the Mill Street trailhead to classic ski for 1.5 hours before heading back to Madison. All trails freshly groomed and tracked. Beautiful hilly terrain on those trails. A great way to end our one week visit to the Keweenaw Peninsula!

Skated all the easy trails. Nice gently flowing. Then classic skied some of the intermediate and advanced trails which were fun to do with the big hills. Trails had been groomed, but light dusting of snow on the trails as there were beautiful snow showers much of the morning.

Great trail layout and impeccable grooming make Michigan Tech one of the best trail systems around. Skied from the Nara Nature Center on Ridge, Royalwood, Down Under, Skidder, Tanglewood and Homestead Loops. Expertly groomed with full depth tracks, slightly soft skate lane with all the new snow. Blue sky and sun made for a beautiful late afternoon ski.

Excellent ski conditions continue at Michigan Tech. A short burst of snow dropped an new inch today slowing skating a bit, but also freshening the trails. Relatively moderate temperatures added to a great afternoon skate ski.

Near perfect conditions at Michigan Tech. Fresh snow and fresh grooming made for ideal skiing. We started at the Nara entrance and skied up to the upper trails and then returned. Both upper and lower sections are in excellent condition. 15 degree temp and light winds made it a comfortable day.

No tracks yet after the warming, but striding was still fun today on upper trails. The Competition trails were a blast for skating.

Surprisingly good conditions on the upper trails. The base is firm, and it's not too icy, considering the warm weather and rain we had.

MTU reports: The grooming crew was out in the storm yesterday and last night removing debris and downed trees from the Upper Trails and Tolkien. Please note that the upper trails are in very poor condition with not much snow and many wind-blown areas with nothing but ice for long stretches. Today the crew is working on bringing the competition and lower trails back to a skiable condition. Extreme caution is advised on all trails due to ice, debris, and fallen trees. Please be aware of crews and grooming equipment while using the trails.

Wonderful skiing and fantastic grooming by the crew at MTU. I skied classic for the first time this season and it could not have been better, unless maybe skied in a bit more. The base is really building up nicely.

Skate skied yesterday morning before the latest round of grooming (8am). Some grooming was underway laying corduroy throughout. Skate deck was soft in spots but overall great coverage. I had on B skis but regretted not having my race skis as the snow pack was adequate. Classic track had been set but needed to be skied in or regroomed after the recent (2") snow. All in all superb skiing. These are the best trails in the region, in large part because of the dedication of the grooming staff.
