Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Skied the Wolverine, Superior and Wildcat loops today. The conditions were fair to good. The base is thin but covered and the tracks were firm and well groomed. A few twigs sticking up in several areas but nothing that prevented a good skiing experience. Glad to have made it out on the trails!

Blueberry was better than I’d hoped. Did classic on the lighted loop. No tracks set, but decent cover. Probably headed back to skate it tomorrow.

Very squirrelly, dirty, and fast. Some bare spots showing. Decided to do a double pole only workout because skating would have been a nightmare. Sunday might be the last day to ski for awhile.

Wow, what an incredible morning. Sten groomed up the Wolverine and Lighted Loop perfectly. Wide, flat, and firm skate deck. No classic tracks yet. Some trail debris, mostly oak leaves, but nothing terrible. Skied 28km in 2 hours. Feeling so blessed to have so much on snow time this early!

I can't believe I'm writing this right now on October 26th, but we have 8-10 inches of fresh lake effect snow at Blueberry Ridge! This is the most October snow I have ever seen in the UP! The DNR was out this morning rolling the Lighted Loop. There's so much snow that no bare spots exist and conditions are quite soft and bumpy. My friend Kjetil and I ventured onto the ungroomed Crossroads Classic trail for a bit to find heavy snow underneath and soft, fluffy snow on top. A true October powder day. The trails should be skiable for a while.
