Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Plenty of snow in the pine woods of Pine Valley. Classic track was a little shallow and beaten up on the curves. Snow was fast as the day had warmed up into the 20s.

Firsthand: Freestyle Scheduling
[ B skis ]
Skating conditions varied but still highly satisfying skiing. The outer 2k loop was very good with full coverage and a light layer of new snow on top of a firm and crusty base with no difficult icy spots. The lighted loop was closer to good because of less new snow cover on top of a rock hard base. Lots of tree debris and thin snow cover at start and finish area but several members of the CEC Ski Team were armed with shovels and heading out to help fix the thin spots when I was leaving. There is a high school race scheduled for Tuesday afternoon (Janh 19) at Pine Valley.

Groomed two days ago. Good classic track and a fast skate deck. I was able to remain in the track on the double downhill.

Classic tracks were shallow under the pines, but deeper on the back loop. It was fast out there. More snow would be welcome. Looked better for skating.

Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Nice skiing on the main loop, fully covered from recent snowfalls. Well used from skier traffic, skate lane has some variable unevenness and ridges from passes with the grooming equipment. Classic track set throughout.

Trails groomed but soft. Skied the White Pine and found a Fitbit. Left it at the chalet with the person grooming the ski jump.

Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
The trails at Pine Valley were groomed and in good shape. There was a classic track throughout the entire system. The snow was mostly warm and a little sticky, but some spots were a little glazed. I was on waxless skis, but I bet waxable skis would kick fine. The skate lane was a little uneven, but it looked pretty good for skating. The White Pine Loop had a lot of footprints on it, and skating over that looked fine. Not too many rocks poking through anywhere. Only one wet spot, that was on the connector to the White Pine Trail. It was a great Thanksgiving treat to ski on trails in such good shape.

We classic skied just the White Pine loop today so we could skijor. We had the whole thing to ourselves with the exception of one walker on the trail. The grooming was impeccable and it looked pretty fresh. Classic tracks were great where they had not melted and the skate deck was full of footprints because walking is allowed. Temps were in the 40's but it was holding up remarkably well. Thank you for the great grooming!

[ Trails Open: Most ]
I was at the Pine Valley to snowshoe, but was surprised to see a newly groomed and tracked trail. It looked perfect. Someone skied yesterday and said that it was a decent classic track, a bit ragged in spots.
