Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Very nice skate skiing late in the afternoon. Skate lane had been groomed and a nice layer of loose corny-corduroy snow was on top of a firm base. Good classic track that was not reset had some glaze and soft pole plants. Skating the better option today. Light skier traffic, we put down the first tracks since the most recent grooming.

Ski trail was in great condition during the late afternoon. Skate lane was groomed earlier today and classic track remains in good shape. Pine needles and tree debris in the usual spots at the start and finish, gets much better after the first half kilometer.

A short portion of the trail was groomed for skating. Most of the trail was covered with a couple of inches of light fluffy snow. One other classic skier preceeded me and needed to get out of the classic track to climb and descend. Very slow.

Skate lane was re-groomed and is in great condition. Some scattered leaf and various tree debris is on the surface. Well-used classic track remains in place. Outer 2K loop is in better overall condition than the lighted loop that sees more skier traffic.

[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Pine Valley had been partially groomed Wednesday after the snow. The second half of the system was not groomed yet but the lit loop was. However the second half was still skiable as new snow had fallen on a groomed trail. Good firm classic tracks with full coverage, just the occasional leaf in the track. Pole plants were soft at times with the new snow. Skate deck was fairly firm but starting to get a bit chopped up on the uphills. Full coverage across the board with good grooming!

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic Scheduling
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Very good skiing this afternoon, nice classic tracks, wide skate lane. Most skiers are using good skis, just a few small areas of minor tree debris and thin areas where grooming churned up stuff. There is a high school race that starts at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 4, so plan ahead. Course preparation will take place during the day.

I skied the White Pine trail. Classic tracks are medium deep and there was some debris from the trees. The trail is in good condition. You can stay in the classic track and the skate deck is hard. Good ski, even at -4 degrees.
