Trail Detail
Notes
This is a system of classic-only trails made up of ever increasing inter-connected loops through some of the loveliest country in the Midwest. Very hilly -- intermediate to advanced skills recommended.Trail Reports

Another great day of grooming out on Rock Lake trails. Special thanks to Jerome for volunteering and getting trained in on grooming! We combed in about 2 inches of new snow and set new tracks on all of the loops. The uphills are nice and wide for herringboning, and the tracks should set up nicely tonight. Hope you can get out on this classic trail and enjoy the quiet woods!

Rock Lake was nothing short of spectacular this morning. My wife and I hadn't been there in quite a while, and I had almost forgotten how utterly gorgeous this place is. The temp was perfect, there was a coating of fresh snow on the thinnest of branches, and we didn't see another soul in the woods. If you haven't visited this NW Wisconsin, classic-only gem of a system, you should.

Rock Lake trails received about 2-3 inches of new snow this week. I went out there this morning before 6 AM to get it groomed before it got to warm. I reset tracks on all of the loops but the Rock Lake loop. The tracks looked great, but will be soft with the warm temperatures. Hope you can get out there this weekend and enjoy this mild weather!

I skied the trail this morning. Very good tracks, a firm base, and only a little debris in the tracks. This is my favorite trail for classic, the best around. Skiers need to rediscover the USFS trails. This one and Mukwonago. The maintenance and grooming is as good as it was years ago, well, almost ;-)

Rock Lake received 6-8 inches of new fluffy snow. The trails were all packed this morning with the snowmobile. We then groomed the trails with 2 passes and set tracks. The grooming conditions were perfect today! All the previous debris is covered and the tracks looked great. There were some skiers using the trails right after we groomed, so the tracks might we worn in some places. Hope you can get out there and enjoy this wonderful trail system on your public land!

Pretty good conditions! Icy in spots and soft in others, but over all quite enjoyable. Only the 11k loop is groomed, but other loops have at least been skied in a bit.

Happy New Years skiers! We've been short staffed over the Holidays, so Rock Lake was only partially groomed today. We plan to be back to more consistent grooming on Monday. I set tracks all the way around on the 11 Km loop. I did not have time to do the cut acrosses, but the outer trails are groomed up to the 11 Km, and the returns back to the parking lot are all groomed. There was about 3 inches of new snow out there. Skiers have been using the other parts of the trail that I didn't have time to groom today, so there are user made tracks on the rest of the system.

I called the USFS at 9:45 a.m. today to ask them about grooming. They said they would be grooming today and would post an update later.
