Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Rock Lake received about 3-4 inches of very dry, fluffy snow. All loops were groomed and tracked today. There are a handful of areas that some dirt and leaves got pulled up while grooming, and Rock Lake Loop still has a thin base. Overall, the trail is looking better and better as we keep getting snow here and there! Should be a nice week to get out and ski!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Good grooming conditions today, and with the colder temps the trail should set up nice for the weekend! The Rock Lake loop was not groomed as we just don’t have enough snow getting through the pines. There are a handful of areas that we still pulled up a little dirt. But overall the tracks looked deep and clean. Big thank you to our new volunteer groomer Tom for coming out on a cold day and helping us! Saturday looks like the best day to get out and enjoy the trail!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Good news is that we received 3 inches of fresh snow last night. Not so good news is the higher than normal temperatures which makes the grooming difficult. The trail is in decent shape, but there are a few areas in the Pines that are still pretty shallow. I would avoid the Rock Lake loop altogether as there is just not much snow around it. The other loops are better. The tracks and my lines are not what I hope for when grooming in 3 inches of new snow. Hoping for some colder temps tonight to help firm things up out there. But it still looks like a great weekend to come out and check out this trail!

Morning
Observation
[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
Trails won’t be groomed again until we get more snow. The trails were groomed last on New Years Eve. Skiers are reporting decent tracks in areas and shallow to no tracks in other areas. Also, some areas have dirt and sticks showing in the snow. Take it easy on the downhills, the tracks are smoothed out in places if you do venture out. Think snow, so we can get back out there!

Firsthand: Classic
[ Good skis ]
We were surprised at the snow depth at Rock Lake and decided to use our good skis on the 4 K trail, which was groomed and tracked, but still a bit soft and inconsistent. Rock Lake is still the most magical ski location in Wisconsin!

Morning
Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Beautiful morning out grooming today! All loops at Rock Lake are groomed and tracked. Tracks set up very nicely, but could be soft in places. There are areas where the base is thin and some brambles and sticks are sticking up especially on the 7 KM and 11 KM loops where we mowed brush down this Fall. Rock Lake Loop has thin snow coverage in places, so tracks are thin, and rock skis or B skis are recommended. Trail was getting a lot of use, when we were finishing up grooming! Bring the in the New Year enjoying your public lands and get out for a ski!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
Rock Lake received about six inches of snow before Christmas. We packed the very dry fluffy snow with the snowmobiles today. There is not enough snow to set tracks yet. Grooming plans are to set tracks on Thursday morning.
