Mukwonago received about 2 inches of snow over the past few days. The snow put on a glittery show today as I groomed. I set tracks, but underneath the pine trees the tracks are quite shallow because not much snow reached the trail under the canopy. There are some twigs and pine cones on the trail in these areas. When the canopy opens up in the maple stands, the tracks are deeper.

Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Classical tracks visible and some snow to permit downhill snow plows, but generally icy conditions with a sprinkling of pinecones on trails to affirm the forest setting. Nontheless fun to try a couple 2K and 4K loops on a cold, sunny day.

Grooming

Mukwonago received 2-3 inches last week. This morning, all loops were groomed with a classic track. There's some debris under the pine trees, otherwise, the tracks are moderately deep. Fresh skate deck and tracks are ready for you!

Grooming

All loops at Mukwonago are groomed and new tracks set. There was about 2 inches of new snow that we worked into the old snow. Tracks are good overall, but shallow under the pines. The trail is in excellent shape!

Skated the 13K trail, wow was it nice. Skate deck is flat and soft enough to get nice skate push. There is about a 1/2 inch of new snow on top. The classic track were well set and looked good the whole loop. Super fun to ski with all the up and downs. I had read somewhere that all the hills have a nice run out and that is fact.

Cold morning for this groomer lady! All loops at Mukwonago have been groomed and tracked. I think it's the best conditions we've seen in a couple years! Hope you can get out there and enjoy these beautiful trails.

Grooming

Mukwonago received around 3-4" of new snow last night and into today. All loops were groomed and tracked except for the 12K loop which was groomed, but not tracked. Overall condition is good. The one negative is there is still a fair amount of debris through the pines.

The good news: a classic track was set on all loops! In some places, the track is shallow. The bad news: the skate lane on the return of the 13k is quite rough and uneven. This is due to a soft base, hopefully after making a pass with equipment and colder temps, the base will set up. There are some twigs on the trail. Think snow and cold temps!

Skated the 7.5 km loop this afternoon. Plenty of snow coverage, but must have been 5+ inches of snow since the last grooming, and few skiers have gone over it. Temperature was just above freezing, not quite warm enough to soften the freezing rain glaze on top. Skating was doable, but snowplowing was exceedingly difficult due to the crust, and ski tips frequently caught in the crust along the trail edges. No classic tracks set.
