Notes

The trail is located about two blocks West of Hwy 169 on Bass Lake Rd. Overall this is a nice little gem. The terrain is very gentle and seems an ideal place for a family with small children or beginner skiers.

Skied the Pike Lake Trail late afternoon today. There is a nice track around the golf course driving range until you get to the woods. However there is no track in the woods except for skier made track. Still there is plenty of snow and not any debris on the trail so it was very enjoyable.

Skied the loops at Eagle Lake this morning. All trails nicely groomed for skate ski. Pike Lake loop had fresh classic tracks set. Tracks on the other loop were old. Met one of the groomers as I was leaving. They have done a great job with these trails all season! They really make the most out of a small golf course and the little snow we had this year.

Looked as if it hasn't been groomed recently but still in very good shape, well packed and no issues with drifted snow. A bit on the icy side, which had two sides to it: the trail was getting a bit rutted, but had excellent glide, especially for this temperature. Lots of debris in a couple of places. A lot of fun; a good place to go in colder temps, especially when the trails are in good shape like this.

Trails were in pretty good condition for skating overall. Plenty of snow, intact, nicely packed, alternating between icy and slow surface. Seemed as if it hadn't been groomed for a couple of days but still in good shape. Minimal footprints from walkers, maybe because of the hard snow.

[ B skis ]
Skied the Pike Lake classic trail. Conditions were fair to poor. The classic tracks were washed out in many stretches of the trail and it doesn’t appear the they’ve been groomed in many days. There was a lot of foot traffic on this trail and even signs of a fat tire bike track. People aren’t being considerate of this designated ski loop. The foot traffic made the downhill stretches icy and difficult to snow plow on to check your speed. I wouldn’t recommend skiing this loop until we get a decent snowfall to cover the damage from foot traffic.

Skied Pike Lake trail early afternoon. Nicely groomed, no debris, thin track but plenty of snow. Northwest wind held off by woods. Best conditions this year. Also skied Eagle Lake trail. It was good to very good. Skating lane nicely groomed also.

We skied the Eagle Lake Trail and the Pike Lake Trail this morning. Eagle was in better shape with fair to good classic tracks. Pike wasn't as good with shallower tracks and more foot traffic. Eagle Lake is always a nice ski area to get away from people, and just have a nice easy ski with pleasant scenery.

Skied Pike Lake Trail. Start of trail by driving range is fair but after that trail is nicely tracked through the woods. Looks like Eagle Lake trail was fully groomed for skate and classic.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: Partial, Good skis ]
Skied Pike Lake and part of Eagle lake trails. Pike Lake is packed only with no track set (It is classic only). Plenty of snow except at start where it is blown over. Eagle Lake trail is groomed for skate and it has a classic track. Again blown over in areas but I was pleasantly surprised to find it groomed.

In search of crust skiing, I gave Eagle a shot. There were some tongues of snow bordering the fairways that had iced up nicely. A lot of thin spots; I wouldn’t recommend it.
