Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Most, Rock skis ]
Great to get some Skijoring in on the Upland and Maple Loops. There was about 1/2 inch of new snow on top of Monday's snowmobile groom. No classic track. No bare spots or rocks were seen or felt, but lots of grass and reeds were sticking out. Snow Leopard went off with One-Eyed Wonder and reported excellent Skijoring terrain. For me the thin deck made for a bumpy but still fun skate ski, if not a little soft in spots too. It's so great to have 7.5k of Skijoring terrain on the north shore!

[ Rock skis ]
Went to Sugarbush planning to ski Onion River Road, but many of the other trails were also groomed, so we skied out on the Homestead Loop and Hogback Loop. Trails were decent in some places but drifted with a deep rut from the snowmobile tread on the Hogback Loop and overall quite soft. Snow was thin, and rocks and sticks were present along with a few deep divots across the trail from creeks making it rock ski conditions. But, grateful trails were groomed!

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Partial, B skis ]
Intermittent debris the entire length of Onion River Road, and a few very thin spots near the trailhead (avoid the middle of the deck for the first km), but very good overall with a fresh groom on the recent snow, making for a nice deck that has almost no icy spots.

A fresh inch or two of snow overnight covered any exposed gravel and debris and made for excellent skiing. The deck is predictably slow and a little soft toward the edges, but not terribly rutted or uneven. I used good skis and didn't have any issues.

[ Trails Open: Partial, Good skis ]
Onion River Road is in really nice shape with a flat and plenty firm deck. Very small patches of gravel just poking through the snow in the first km or so, but I used good skis and didn't have any issue avoiding those spots. Beyond that, just the occasional blip of debris, but overall very good.
