Notes

About 17km total of trail loops near the St. Cloud penitentiary. Some scenic woods and great hills. Just a mile from the Mississippi, trails run on land that was formerly a farm and takes skiers through pastures, forests, and apple orchards. Trails are mostly easy to intermediate with a few challenging hills.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
Orchard, Warm-up and Hill top in reasonable shape, given our lack of snow. Some grass sticking through, but overall very skiable. Baltos not groomed yet. Northloop was groomed today, so it is also an option. Thanks to the groomers for really doing a great job with this minimal snow.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Partial, B skis ]
The groomers did some testing this afternoon with the low snow conditions and feel that they should be able to make a reasonable skate deck. The plan is to groom the Greystone trails Saturday night. Orchard and Warm-up will be groomed first. Hopefully they can also get to Hilltop and Baltos. No classic tracks, only skate due to lack of snow.

These trails have little snow but the grooming that was done provides a great ski experience. Grass and soft brush sticking up mostly on the Dog Loop, but Orchard loop is very nicely covered for the most part. Survived Sundays melt, still a nice ski workout for freestyle. No classic tracks really possible to be set, although some have skied them in along portions of the trail. I wouldn't drive far to ski here with this snow level, but it is better than nothing. Thanks groomers for doing what you could with the snow.

Skied Orchard Loop. No classic track, but a B+ for skating. Nice job by the groomers given the sparse snow we have had.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ B skis ]
Trails were groomed this afternoon. Groomer mentioned that some hills were a bit rocky and grass was sticking through. I thought the trails were great. The trails were not yet groomed for classic. I was the first to ski this afternoon. As I left more cars were pulling up to ski.
