[ Good skis ]
Skied loop from the parking lot to the golf course on Sunday around noon. 2-3" of loose snow over an occasionally crusty base. It was slow but easily skiable. No bare spots and very pleasant in the woods. Few skiers there when we started, but the parking lot was 1/3 full when we left.

Observation
[ Trails Open: Most ]
We received about 3 inches of wet heavy snow this morning after steady rain through the night. We have a good amount of new snow on top of the existing base but it is too warm to groom at this time. The whole trail had a nice base as of yesterday, so with the new snow we are just waiting for the right conditions to groom.

Skied the golf course, the hills behind the golf course, and out to 9K. The trail base from 2k to 9k is still holding up well. The skate lane is still firm with 100% coverage. The classic track is okay in many areas but is broken down and washed out in other areas. The golf course is very icy and I do not recommend skiing there.

Skate lane report for 6-16 Km. Approximate 50% decrease in depth since last Friday. Occasional dirt and grass showing through. Ice glaze in shade alternating with soft sticky snow in sun. Diagonal tracks had also lost depth. Be very cautious of downhills. Late season conditions.

The trail was glazed and fast as I skied the golf course and out to Old 32. The south facing hills were softening up a bit. The classic tracks were fast in most areas but broken down in some of the heavy traffic spots. Still full coverage on the trail.

Skied the golf course and out to Old 32. The trail was firm with a glaze from the overnight freeze, it was very fast! Classic tracks were also fast, broken down in some areas, good in others. The trail has full coverage but there are leaves and debris on the trail.

Arrived at old 32 parking lot at 9:30. Temperatures were in the high 20s. The trail was groomed Friday and had gone through a freeze/thaw cycle. Tracks were shallow and glazed. The skate deck was frighteningly fast. I am 250 pounds and had my stiff skis; I could manage an edge. My wife, at 120 pounds, could not and turned back. My friend Kenny and I skied to second road crossing and back. We had to snowplow all downhills. The trail was starting to soften over the course of the hour we were out. Good luck to all Birkie warriors.

Skate skied the golf course, the hills behind the golf course and out to 9 k. Skating was lightening fast, with a hard and flat deck, a little hard to get an edge at times but mostly okay. 25 degrees at 8:30. Then went back out with grandchildren to classic ski. By 10:00 the snow was just a little soft, very nice conditions, classic track was pretty good, plenty firm, some leaves. 32 degrees when finished.

Skate deck report from 6 through 20 km. Recent grooming left the trail in excellent shape. Debris was minimal. Deck was fast with good pole plants. Adjacent classic tracks throughout, of moderate depth and were fairly fast. Good skis may be used with the exception of Smyth Road crossing. The substantial base has withstood the warm temperatures.

Skied the Blue/Black trails north of Smyth Rd. Excellent conditions with nice cord over a firm and level base. Classic tracks were deep and firm too. The temperature was 31 degrees when we started and 35 when we finished.
