Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Good skis ]
Skied the virtual classic race at Lakewood today. Most of the trail has been groomed since the 3 inch snowfall Tuesday night with the exception of the big hills in back of the golf course and the black trail on the far north end. We skied the black trail anyway. Some frozen ruts on the downhills after the team Bob bench made it tricky. We were out there early in the day when the trail was firm so it might be ok when things soften up. There were solid tracks and the skate lane was firm in the morning. Big thanks to the club groomers for a great course today.

Awesome! The snow conditions were perfect. The entire trail system was tracked and groomed. Even ran into a Birkie celebrity skiing his virtual Birkie race. He's one of the 35 skiers who have skied the most Birkies.

[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Skating technique used from Old 32 Parking Lot to County F (7K-20K). Full coverage. Skate deck 7K-16.5K is good but somewhat uneven. (Large rock mid-trail at 13.5K). Ironically, the expert loop (16.5K to 20K and back to 16.5K) is easier due to a more level deck. Classic tracks present throughout with approximately half the trail having bilateral sets of tracks. Plenty of snow cover and parking lot is plowed.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Trail Piston Bully groomed and one set of tracks laid from the Golf Course past the old 32 parking lot to the hills at the 9K marker. Conditions are very good to excellent. The plan is to finish the rest of the trail tomorrow.

[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
Excellent mid-winter conditions. Skied the hills behind the golf course, they were recently groomed with a flat and firm skate deck. Classic tracks were deep and firm. This is what we have been waiting for!

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
Firm but undulating skate lane with some dirt spots that are pretty easy to avoid. Classic tracks were firm and fast. Started to snow lightly as I finished my ski.

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Skating done from clubhouse to Sullivan Springs Rd (0 to 11 k) avoiding largest hills (2-4 k and 8-9 k). Golf course was smooth, level and well-groomed. Remainder of skate trail had deep longitudinal furrows and was not level. One set of good quality classic tracks visible throughout. More snow is needed to level out the skate deck so stick to the golf course.

Evening
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Partial, B skis ]
The golf course is skiable. The woods has got plenty of snow, but still bumpy because they need more snow to groom well. If you are looking for a challenge the woods is like skiing moguls on cross country skis. If you're looking for a good trail, don't even think about it. There are no tracks set. Pray for more snow!

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Partial, Rock skis ]
Skied the golf course and it is pretty decent for skating, no tracks set. A few thin spots but easy to avoid them. Undulating base but surprisingly nice skating, could definitely use B skis here. Also skied into the woods out to 8k. This is very bumpy and rock ski conditions.
