Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Partial, B skis ]
Another great ski this morning as temps got below 32F overnight. A good turnout of skiers as it's not over until it's over.

An inch or so of snow Saturday afternoon and temps below 32F allowed John C to do a light ginzu of the skate lanes on B,D, Y and W. Some thin spots, but easy to get around. Skating was very good early and then slowed some with full sun. Classic skiers made do with what was there.

[ Good skis ]
Just finished two loop of Y and 1 of W. Minimal debris. I hit the Goldilocks hour. Lower trails will still have coverage, so Spring skiing and timing is everything. Classic tracks? Well better maybe when it softens, some old tracks left.

[ Trails: Closed ]
Our groomer went out and checked the trails today. He reports that there still is a base left of snow. If we get some fresh snow grooming is possible. We'll just have to wait and see.

Observation
[ Trails: Closed ]
I listed the trails closed as I'd not ski out there. It's pretty poor out there now. I did not ski. I'm not sure if anyone has skied since the weekend. Unless some decent snow arrives there will be no more grooming. Trail is thin and likely bare spots now. A lot of debris out there from storms. We've gotten .3-.5" of rain. I'm switching to hiking and biking now.

Afternoon
Observation
[ Trails Open: All ]
A great turnout yesterday as skiers caught the "Goldilocks" hour. They enjoyed some great skiing and full sunshine. They also had low calorie home made goodies in the Lodge. This morning skiers showed up earlier and caught the Goldilocks hour. Still decent coverage on most of our trails. Stay tuned as it is only the first week of March, plenty of time for some cold weather and snow.

[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
I intended on skiing here in the morning, but instead I got here at 2 pm and my car's thermometer was reading 50F. I was expecting the worst after a muddy/slushy parking lot and a large bare/icy spot near the lower trailhead, but fortunately that was by far the worst of it. Coverage was excellent throughout most of the trail system, and despite the temperatures I wasn't sinking in that much, although it was an extremely slow skate. Some of the spots in the shade were even icy! The tracks looked to be in good shape as well. There was a ton of debris in quite a few areas, some of which was difficult to avoid, thus the B skis rating.

Morning

[ Good skis ]
Skate and classic regroomed since yesterday and in good shape. Windy day so beech leaves were starting to accumulate in tracks when I left. Skating lanes softened as the day went on but still decent. Skins reportedly worked well all day. Lots of happy skiers.

Entire system groomed again early this morning. Kickwax was working well early, but as day went on skins and nowax ruled. Skating proved better this morning after the morning groom and temps in upper 20's overnight. Full sun and strong SW winds made glide difficult after 2pm. Lows barely reaching 32F tonight, so get out as early as you can. Normally this is Taste N Glide weekend, but we would have had to order food two weeks ago. However people are still going to show up and enjoy the trails and socialize.
