Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Pretty darn good for December 5. The snow we received on Sunday was high in moisture and has been packed down and groomed nicely. Almost complete coverage on the purple trail and full coverage on the new training loop (blue trail). Lots of oak leaves on the trail (still more in the trees yet). For once, the areas under evergreen trees are cleaner than the rest of the trail. Still a lot of small sticks on the trail but people are making an effort to clean it off. The areas under the power lines are chewed-up due to construction work. Some areas of ice and some thin areas but still skiable. Not enough snow for a classic track. Not ideal conditions but any day you can ski is a good day.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
The sticks and branches are no longer a problem, most have been picked up. I skate skied all the trails today except for the green. Because of the wind we are having, there are a lot of oak leaves on most of the trails, making skiing more difficult. There is a new 1/3 mile training loop around the mens restroom that has no leaves, sticks or stones. The high school/middle school ski team uses it along with part of the sledding hill.

[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
Greenbush received about 5-6 inches of snow on Sunday. It was a heavy snow and a lot of branches fell. Jeff the groomer was out this morning and got the biggest branches off the trail. There are still a good amount of small branches on most of the loops. Hopefully skiers are picking them up. I helped clear branches for about 3 hours this morning. All the trails were rolled. Not enough snow for classic tracks. I skated and would say it is ok for early winter skiing. The snow should last for a while. Use B skis. I would stay off the wooded, hilly part of the brown trail because it is wet at the bottom of the hills.
