Trail Reports

Reports 101 to 110 of 131    Month: Feb | Jan | Dec | Nov
Tuesday, December 16, 2025
Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
Because of the report of good conditions on skinny, I drove 30 miles and found they were very good and not icy. The skate deck was flat with enough loose snow for good edging. Man-made snow had been spread over the regular snow so the trail should still be good with warmer temperatures.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Partial, Good skis ]
Good conditions for skate and stride on limited trails today. Due to ongoing spreading of snow whales, only the Field Loop and the One KM Loop are accessible from the Lodge. Skate deck is firm and flat with enough loose snow to get a good edge. Tracks are solid and straight.

Hardpack icy conditions on the skate deck. Only the field loop was open due to snowmaking. The classic tracks were running fast and were in good shape.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
The Piston Bully was out grooming our hard packed man made trails. We have a loop up and around summer stage and the meadow loop down below. The skate deck tilled up nicely and is in very good condition. New classic tracks were set and are in excellent condition. Grooming plans: Snow making continues into the woods and will be pushed out in the next day or so.

I skied this morning on the training oval about three times and then went into the woods and took a left just before Two Tier. I skied half way down magic carpet ride until the cones directed me to the left and skied down the hill onto the training oval. Fantastic grooming job.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
The man-made snow on the lower loop was groomed last night with the piston bully and has tracks set. I just finished grooming the skate deck on the rest of the trails with the Ginzu. I left the tracks as is, they looked to still be in decent shape in some areas. The lighted loop and the purple trail still had pretty good track, some portions of the outer blue/black the tracks have been wiped out. The upper trails have a fair amount of leaf litter on the trails so I would not recommend your best skis.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
The snowmaking crew was busy making some very dry snow on Thursday. The piles were spread and groomed Friday. We now have man made snow up to summer stage and the bottom half of magic carpet. There is a new classic track set up to summer stage and down magic carpet. A new classic track was set on the outside of the meadow trail. The skate deck was freshened up and is in great condition on the man made snow. The rest of the natural snow trails are open and skiing well. Grooming plans: With the upcoming cold temperatures the natural snow trails will not be groomed until Sunday night.

Observation
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
All trails are open, but snowmaking operations continue, and a few of the man-made loops are unavailable until this afternoon or evening, until the swales can get leveled and groomed by the pisten bully. Natural snow has not been groomed since Wednesday due to equipment issues. They are skiable, but frozen and icy, and should be skied with caution.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Partial, Good skis ]
Due to the snowmaking I only skied the .45 lower man-made loop which was groomed with good conditions. It was my longest and fastest in the 5 times this season, 3 at nordic and 2 at lapham.

Snowmaking is ongoing at Lapham but there is good coverage throughout the entire system. For some reason the last snowfall has not been groomed which makes for fast but challenging conditions as the warm snow has firmed up. Black hills are skiable but could use a roller or groomer.
