Firsthand: Classic
[ B skis ]
I classic skied the green Meadow Trail so part on manmade snow and part natural snow. The tracks were in good shape. There are a few spots where the right foot ski track is pushed out. Also, by the pine trees you can see dirt/grass though in a bunch of spots and skis catch on a few of them. The left set of tracks is best in this area. All in all it was exciting to be able to ski on the natural snow area and worth the trip.

Kame Trail classic skied (purple/pink on East side) and parts of blue Kettle trail. Pretty good snow coverage most places. Some leafy spots near Butterfly Garden. Snow not coming through tree-line much. Couple of roots in spots. Little icy underneath in spots. Overall enjoyable gorgeous winter day. Quite windy. Around the Prairie was great as the snow fell. Happy to get the new dusting of snow. No official tracks laid.

Grooming

Groomed the skate deck on all manmade snow trails. Tracks looked to be in good shape with a nice layer of fresh snow on them so those were left along. Ready for a great day of skiing.

Out on manmade loop around 12 PM - good coverage with firm base and snow falling. Excellent new snow conditions with good control. Appreciate all the efforts of groomers and volunteers at Lapham. Even with cooler temps a great day to ski Lapham!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Partial, B skis ]
Finally, I was able to take our sweet Pisten Bully on about 5 inches of new mother nature, fresh snow. I groomed and set tracks on our entire manmade trail system. I also was able to do the green and almost all of our lighted loops off the man-made. Then I went up to Homestead and groomed and set a track on the purple, a little thin, but with rock Ski's or B skies, you should have a nice ski. The Lapham Loppet is happening this morning, so the park and trails will be very busy. Happy skiing.

Grooming Scheduling
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
The man-made, lighted loop, and purple trail were all groomed this morning with the PistenBully, and tracks were set. Conditions should be good once it has a little time to set up. Grooming plans: The rest of the upper trails have not yet been groomed, but we will get them rolled when we can. Reminder that the Lapham Loppet is this morning, with the first race starting at 9:30am.

All of the snow that was made Wednesday and Thursday was spread out, so the whole loop is open. The man made loop is likely to ski fairly slow with all of the new snow. I tried to roll some of it mid day that had not yet been packed down by the skiers. I also rolled the rest of the lighted loop as well as the purple trail. It is very thin out there but should provide a decent base if we get more snow. Reminder the Lapham Loppet is Saturday with the first race starting at 9:30 am so the trails and Lodge will be very busy most of the day.

Mark and I had the Pisten Bully out at night, leveling the new snow that the Snowmaker's have made. I groomed and reset tracks on the entire man-made trail system. We are getting back to full depth and width on our man-made trails. Happy skiing!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Partial, Good skis ]
I groomed the skate deck up the starting hill, around the backside of summerstage and then the path going straight back towards the lodge with the Ginzu, so there is a loop open. Use a little caution as the extra tracks set for the races through that middle path were not able to be completely pulled out with the ginzu, but it should still be skiable. Portions of the trail will be closed today for snowmaking. The lower field loop and the portion through the woods will have snowguns on them throughout the day as we work to add some depth to the trail. Please give some extra room to the snowmakers and groomers as we work over the next two days to get the snow made and spread out.

The man-made loop froze up after grooming and is very hard and icy, but you are able to get somewhat of an edge. The new snow that blew in was sticky compared to the fast hard conditions so that made it an interesting ski transitioning from areas of new snow to areas that the wind blew all the new snow off the trail. The good news is that the trail is smooth and level and hopefully with some traffic will loosen up.
