Grooming
[ Trails Open: Partial, Rock skis ]
The winter storm on Friday took down a large number of trees and branches around the entire trail system. Currently the Green, Red and Yellow loops are closed due to the sheer quantity of downed trees. The Brown loop has been cleared of the most severe of the damage and is open. The Brown loop has been packed and plans are to groom / further clean from debris tomorrow morning. The other trail loops will temporarily remain closed until further notice. We intend to spend time clearing the trails over the course of the next week.

Afternoon
Observation
[ Trails: Closed ]
All trails are closed to skiing as of 2:30 pm on Saturday due to tree debris and low hanging branches preventing trail passage. I encourage users wanting to get out on the trails to snowshoe (do not hike) the loops and remove debris from the trail surface. This assistance will help DNR crews progress with cleanup and allow grooming to occur sooner.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Decent coverage with mild debris. Snow was soft for skating and a bit thin in low-lying areas but should set up with colder weather. Great to be out at Zillmer again - fantastic scenery compensated for any low-lights. Thanks to DNR groomers for their efforts!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Tuesday evening / Wednesday morning we received another 2-4" of snow greatly improving the ground coverage on the trails. All loops have been cleared of major debris from the winter storm earlier this week and have been groomed to make a fair skate deck. The condition of the snow is very wet and heavy. Temps have not yet been cold enough for a true base to form underneath the skiing surface; as such, there are some areas where the soft base shows through to the surface making those areas somewhat dirty. Because of the soft and somewhat still thin conditions no tracks have been set. Grooming plans: I hope to set tracks Friday as temps are expected to cool and there is the possibility of more snow in the forecast.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Partial, Rock skis ]
Overnight the winter storm gave us another several inches of snow, unfortunately the storm brought down a large number of small trees and branches onto the trail. We are working hard to clear the trail of all debris before the possibility of more snow. Please be patient as we work to clear the trail before continuing to groom. Currently the Brown Trail, Green trail, and Red trail have been cleared of the largest trees / branches and are passable. The snow is, as of yet, very wet and heavy. There is enough snow on the trail to make a fair, but soft, and somewhat dirty skate deck. There is not enough snow to safely set tracks.

Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
Skied this morning. Waxed, but still a lot of sticking due to temps and the wet snow yesterday. Groomers were out rolling. Lots of trees that need to be cut. Had to tell some people not to hike on trails. Thank you groomers!

Morning
Observation
Due to high winds and heavy wet snow accumulation, there are numerous trees and branches down on all ski trails. Crews are cleaning up downed trees and branched today. There may be enough snow accumulation down to groom and lay corduroy on Thursday, pending cleanup efforts.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, Rock skis ]
We have begun the grooming process; packing all trails with the roller in preparation to fully groom the trails should weather patterns stay conducive. As of 12pm, we have 4"- 5" inches of a very wet and heavy snow on the ground and 1-3 inches under tree coverage on most of the trail's surface. After packing the snow with the roller there is a 1"- 2" base present on most of the trail. Some bare spots are present where the densest tree coverage is. No tracks have been set.
