Notes

The Lester-Amity trail offers 15K of varied terrain for beginner to experienced skiers through pine, aspen, and birch forests. An additional 3K circles the Lester Park Golf Course and is accessible from the main Lester-Amity Trail. The openness of the golf course offers an excellent place for beginning cross-country skiers, and several short cuts are available. There is also a 5K trail portion that is lit in the mornings and evenings.

Observation
[ Trails Open: All ]
I walked over to "I" (Oak Street) see if the upper portion of Lester was groomed. It was not, as of about 4:30pm. Definitely wet snow out there, so I understand they may be holding off for that reason.

33 degrees at 7am. Skied A to H. Trails groomed yesterday (maybe just rolled?), the tracks are still intact although south facing in particular are icy. There was a tree down sometime this winter at the F intersection, so there's more debris there than other places. Although the hockey loop was still connected via snow this morning, it's quite thin. Lots of snow and hoping the nights are colder to ride this snow out a few more weeks. B skis because there's lots of tree debris (pine needles, cones, birch bark whisps, etc.) in the trails, but no rocks.

Partly sunny, 38 degrees. Tracks in excellent shape with minor debris patches here and there. A few soft stretches where the sun had been. Fairly fast, a real pleasure on the downhills. Skis gripped well despite no special waxing.

There was fresh, untouched corduroy on the lower loops when we got on the trail this morning. The tracks had not been reset but were still in good shape. The upper loops had not been retouched when we were out but groomer was still out. You could use your good skis; I said B skis because there's debris here and there.

Last week's warmup was not ideal. The trail was groomed (yesterday?). It was skiable, but pretty icy. A bit of tree debris in the skate lane, all avoidable. The classic tracks were pretty awesome on the downhills. I skipped the J loop.

Groomed this morning. Great tracks. Occasional avoidable debris. The skate deck looked awesome as well.

Freshly groomed this morning. Tracks were fantastic throughout (we skied everything except south of A). Skate deck looked good although some spots with deeper grooves. Some spotty debris from Friday's wind but easy to avoid.

A beautiful snow globe kinda morning at Lester. About an inch of freshies on top of a mostly hard track. A few pole plunges, so be alert! Go get some.

Sunny, 15 degrees F. Track well used but still in very good condition. Packed tight, good speed on the downhills and a double-poling delight. Very little debris. Lots of skiers out this afternoon!

Lester River Park freshly groomed at about 12:30 PM. Beautiful trails, nice classical tracks and beautiful deck for skating. Skied the whole outer loop and is moderately fast, no ice, a few sticks, but all problem trees have been removed. Some wind but hardly noticeable. A beautiful balmy day to get out and ski and thank you so much to our great groomers!
