Notes

The Lester-Amity trail offers 15K of varied terrain for beginner to experienced skiers through pine, aspen, and birch forests. An additional 3K circles the Lester Park Golf Course and is accessible from the main Lester-Amity Trail. The openness of the golf course offers an excellent place for beginning cross-country skiers, and several short cuts are available. There is also a 5K trail portion that is lit in the mornings and evenings.

Fast conditions for skating. A few corners and hills slightly icy and some mild debris on the trails, but mostly just lovely.

Beautiful morning on the trails. Groomer was out putting down fresh corduroy and the sun was shining bright :).

Firsthand: Classic

Better than I expected given the lack of snow and warm weather. The track is a bit shallow and sloppy and disappears for some stretches, but snow coverage is surprisingly good throughout and there's not that much debris. I used B skis but probably could have used good skis. Skate lane looked good. We skipped J and L so I can't tell you about that.

Did a classic ski workout today. Conditions were icy fast. The tracks were a little sloppy (with the sugar ice / snow combo). Some of the downhills had been snowplowed on, leading to even faster conditions. It was all certainly skiable. We need more snow!

Awesome conditions at Lester this morning. Whatever weird precipitation mix we recently got magically (also likely thanks to groomers!) erased the ice that has been present the last couple weeks.

Nice conditions, recently groomed. Went out around 11:30 AM. The skate deck has a great base. Some areas were tracked for classic, but even those not tracked were just fine for those setting their own tracks. Corduroy was a little soft, as expected in today's warmer weather. There was very little debris, but all was avoidable. The hills had good coverage. Overall, it was quiet and picturesque. Thanks to the groomers!

Groomers were just getting going in the 10am hour. Good coverage. I used my good skis for the first time this season. Felt good about it overall. The climb up out of the playground is showing some dirt and debris but its navigable unless you are very particular.

New light powder on top of hard pack. Very cold so slow skating but great coverage. Two of the usual spots a little thin, but otherwise great. Track is there most of the way too.

Ungroomed as of 1:30. Lower sections are best described as dust on crust. Upper sections (above C) were very nice for skating. Classic tracks looked a little shallow and washed out but not bad. Some small sticks and leaves are the trail, but less than I expected after yesterday's winds.

A solid ice base with yesterday's inch of snow on top. I parked at the chalet. The classic tracks in the lit loop on top were decent. The skate tracks were great in some spots, bare ice in others.
