Notes

The Lester-Amity trail offers 15K of varied terrain for beginner to experienced skiers through pine, aspen, and birch forests. An additional 3K circles the Lester Park Golf Course and is accessible from the main Lester-Amity Trail. The openness of the golf course offers an excellent place for beginning cross-country skiers, and several short cuts are available. There is also a 5K trail portion that is lit in the mornings and evenings.

Trail was not groomed since fresh snow. The trail was bumpy throughout and I was busting through occasionally with the crust on top and the soft trail underneath. Creek drainages flowing across trail in several spots. Skating would be difficult until it’s groomed.

I skied most of the Lester trails around noon today. 98% of the trails are perfection. There are a few very tiny areas where water is starting to poke up and create ice - but easily seen in advance and manageable. Another trouble spot is the drop down to the chalet. Pretty uneven surface and not for the weak of heart. Best avoided until it's groomed again. The side loop down to the playground was very good on the uphill, but starting to get glazed on the downhill. Overall, nothing you need to avoid (except the drop down to the chalet).

The Lester system has held up very well to the weekend usage. I skated but jumped in the fast, solid tracks anytime the trail pointed downhill; they were really nice tracks. I skied everything but the very bottom portion and the trail extension to the Lester-Amity chalet. Yesterday the downhill to the chalet was rutted and track-less relative to the smooth downhills everywhere else, so I avoided it today.

Best conditions I've experienced at Lester in 20 years. Firm but forgiving skate deck, immaculate tracks, and only a couple spots where ground water bubbled up on the surface are obvious and avoidable.

Trails were in great shape. The tracks were cut nicely and the skate deck looked good. Perfect coverage and no debris on trail.

Amazing conditions out there and perfect skiing weather today. Thank you to the groomers who have kept it so nice and the tracks nice and deep! No spots of ice, rocks, slush, or anything to worry about - just perfect! Enjoy the fresh air!

19 degrees F, sunny, very little wind, noon at Lester. Fast Wax teal gave great glide, swix green hard wax grave plenty of kick. How good was it today? I have been skiing Lester ski trails for 41 seasons now. I have never had a more perfect classic track, or had a more beautiful ski than what the groomers and the woods gave me and Beth today. I cannot imagine better skiing, and I have a pretty good imagination.

Great conditions under the lights Friday night. 20 degrees, no wind, and lots of fresh snow. The tracks were good and everything was covered nicely. It was slow going with the fresh powder, but really enjoyable.
