Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
We got a few more inches of beautiful snow! Loops A and B on the Teuton side are groomed and have tracks set. Only one side of Loop C is groomed, no tracks there yet. Valkyrie trails have only been dragged, no corduroy or tracks. Still getting used to our new (larger and heavier) groomer so you may notice some areas where the grooming gets a little messy, especially on tighter or sloped curves. Thanks for your patience while we keep improving! Grooming plans: The plan is to get the rest of the grooming completed Thursday.

2-3" of fresh snow since the last groom. Skied the classic only side "C" loop. Beautiful scenery here.

Freshened up the skate deck on all Teuton trails. It's a good day to get out before temps warm up and things get slushy!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
All loops at Valhalla are groomed and tracks set. There was about 7 inches of dry, fully snow from over the weekend that groomed up nicely. The Teuton side has an inch of new snow on it since it was groomed, but the tracks were already skied in and looking good. The Valkeryie side was tracked today, and tracks should set up nicely. The sunbowl loop was groomed and tracks set on the flat areas. There is a 5$ day use fee for the site. The site has a warming shelter, chalet and sled hill also to enjoy. Should be a great weekend to get out and enjoy the trails. Hope to see you out there.

Grooming

Huge thanks to volunteer, Greg, for getting all of the Teuton trails dragged this morning. We were able to groom and set tracks on all loops on the Teuton side and plan to groom the Valkyrie trails as soon as possible. The snow is pretty dry, but hopefully cold temps will help the tracks set up nicely. Happy skiing and stay warm!

Classic skied the Teuton ABC loop. Trail had a crusty base with light snow cover making the classic track a little hard to follow at times. Downhill portions are tricky due to piled up snow (that froze). Overall the trail was in good condition with a solid base (no bare spots or debris on trail).

Conditions were as good as they could have possibly been given all the rain and mild weather. We skied the C loop on the Valkyrie trails. Coverage was pretty good. Occasionally there would be a bare or very wet spot in the tracks, but they were easy to ski around. Some thin parts, some crusty parts, but mostly deep and wet snow. Some snow looked great, and some was extremely dirty and debris filled. We used wider metal-edged skis and they worked pretty well. Skinnier skis would have been a disaster.

My first time skiing Valhalla and it was a great find. I skied the A loop and the tracks were in pretty good shape - far better than I anticipated given how little snow we've had. Soft sides make it hard to stay in them consistently. No bare spots, a few sticks, and some leaves - I'll definitely go back tomorrow. A skater reported that the B loop was in good condition as well. Thank you to everyone who posts or I never would have tried this place!

Valkyrie classic trails had set tracks on Friday. Skied the C loop today (Sun bowl). Very nice conditions overall, however the side walls of the tracks didn't set up well. Difficult to stay in the tracks on the corners and not the best grip but otherwise very fast and nice skiing. Plenty of soft snow to stay in control on the downhills.

Skated all of the trails, and they were in much better shape than a few days ago! Really nice skating, fast snow and good edge control!
