Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Just finished grooming. The bad spots are still bad but the rest of the trail cleaned up pretty well. Most of the ruts and footprints are gone. The bad spots are pretty much limited to those areas on the Staghorn trail where there was wind damage and trees were down. For the most part they are just dirty and you can carefully double pole around them and continue on your way. There are a couple of bare dirt spots but they are visible and just bumps in the trail. A fresh classic track was set and a clean skate lane. We still need more snow to flatten things out and cover the damage so I rated it for B skis. Use your best if you are careful.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Just finished a couple loops with the Ginzu. We still struggle with not enough snow but things are cleaning up. It is difficult to take out the ruts and unevenness because our base is so thin. There are some classic tracks remaining and I set some new ones but I would recommend skating. I put B skis because there are still some bad spots due to the windstorm.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
I just finished grooming. We continue to struggle with debris from the recent storms and not quite enough snow. Everything is freshly groomed and in most areas there is a track set. But, the Staghorn trail in particular has a lot of leaf litter and some dirt on it. A couple of big trees came down and they are out of the way but left a lot of twigs etc. I think the skating would be a better choice until we get more snow.

Morning
Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
All ski and multi-use trails are groomed and open for both skate and classic skiing. Park crew did a great job of clearing debris from the Dec storm. The multi-use trail system is great for snowshoe and walking. Of course, we can always use more snow.

Night
Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Finished grooming around 9:00PM so things should set up overnight. Everything got at least a couple passes with the Ginzu. We are still trying to groom in the big snow but also trying to save the base through warmer weather. I think skiers will find a significant improvement, particularly in the Staghorn trail. I tried to flatten it out. There should also be a pretty good track. We already have some thin spots and leaves showing but it is pretty minor. Because of that I suggested B skis. If you are just a little careful, best skis should be OK. I think it looked pretty nice when I left but I often end up feeling like Kenny Chesney when I ski the next morning. He sings: "Last night I came home at 2 with a 10 but at 10 I woke up with a 2." Grooming is often kinda like that. Enjoy it while you can.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Great Sunday skiing on waxless tracking skis, especially on multi-use trails that had been packed but with enough loose snow on the edges to set decent track. Groomed track (the short distance which I skied) was also great for striding. Though the number of kilometers of well-groomed and wide-enough trail is great for skaters, Wissota is truly ideal for tracking on the horse trails that border the prairies or otherwise veer off the main network.

Night
Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
We received a good foot of snow at the park. All trails are open. As of tonight around 9:00PM everything was packed at least twice with the Gator or roller then groomed with the Ginzu. A classic track was set on all trails but it is pretty haphazard in layout. It doesn't "flow" nicely. The skating lane will probably be soft for a while. I plan to test the classic tracks tomorrow morning. The volunteer crew has been busy all day. I think the trails will show it. The multi-use trails that are open for Fat Biking were also rolled.
