Trail Reports

2021-2022 season
Reports 1 to 8 of 8    Month: Mar | Feb | Jan
Saturday, March 12, 2022
Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Anoka County Parks last groomed here March 3, last updated their trail conditions web page March 7. Snow depth was thin, but there were only a few bare spots and minimal debris in the tracks. Lack of recent grooming for the classic tracks was evident. Overall conditions were poor to fair, slightly icy overall, in a few spots melt water had refrozen. Beautiful sunny day, very few visitors to this quiet peaceful park situated on the Rum River. Until next season!

Was able to skate the entire course at Rum River. The recent snow covered most of the debris from the wind storm a few weeks ago (I only have one set of skis, but I did have to avoid some sticks etc). Couldn't tell if it had been groomed after the snow from this week, but others have packed the skate deck so it was a nice ski! The classic tracks looked good too. Note: snowmobile tracks on the purple loop made skate skiing more uneven, but they didn't disrupt the classic track.

Classic skied Rum River Central trails this afternoon. Some scattered leaves on woods trails, but overall still in good shape. Favorable weather in teens degrees.

Beautiful day on the Rum! XC trails haven't been groomed since Friday snowfall, but self groomed classic track worked great. Skied classical.

We skied the blue trail. Deck was good but lots of thin spots and debris in the tracks. The kids didn't mind much but I had trouble with skins catching leaves.

Trails were freshly groomed. Some soft spots on the skate deck. Full coverage of the trail. Only noticed about two dirt spots in the tracks.

Solidly groomed trails with no bare spots though some walkers had gone through leaving some very deep boot prints that had exposed visible spots of asphalt though your skis will not touch them. No classic tracks set at the moment. Be wary near the parking lot as some gravel/sand has found its way to the closer part of the trail. Trails have not been groomed with the snowfall on Friday. One section of asphalt had been plowed instead of groomed removing a good quarter mile of trail. About 6k open. As always a good option for those who are closer to here than Elm creek or Bunker.
