I skied Fern Dell, Turtleville, and Hastings/Pioneer trails. I would estimate there is only about five inches of snow on the ground here so there is not much for the groomers to work with. There is not enough snow to set a classic track. The trails are skiable for skate skiing but there are many shallow areas with exposed dirt and many areas with lots of forest debris. There was recent logging on Turtleville, I skied 13.5 kilometers with no damage to my good skis but I would recommend B skis if you are concerned about possible damage. The 10 degree temperature slowed things down considerably allowing for good control through problem areas.

The park staff have been rolling and combing the past couple of days the numerous 1" snowfalls we have received. All trails except for Northwest loops have been at least rolled and most now have corduroy as well. Not enough base depth to set tracks and a fair amount of debris in places. We had a very enjoyable skate ski mid day on Fern Dell, Turtleville, Newport, Kilborn, Ishnalla, Pioneer and inner Hastings. Hit something on Ishnalla the nicked the edge of our rock skis but that was it as far as any damage. Turtleville was skiable but not nearly as nice as the other trails.

Surprised on conditions early this morning-survived the rain showers. Skied Ferndell, parts of Turtleville, Hastings and Pioneer. All with solid base with just enough top snow to get a good edge, slight ice topping early morning to make in fairly fast. Ferndell and Hastings had best coverage except for some leaf debris-thin areas under the pines with roots and bare spots sticking thru. avoided the hills on Turtleville and pioneer due to bare spots. Really started to soften up mid morning.

I decided to stop at Mirror Lake to check the trails. FernDell was in great shape as well as Pioneer. There's some logging going on back on Turtleville and there was way too much bare dirt, so I would not suggest going back there. They had groomed and I had no problem holding an edge. The deck was flat, which was a pleasant surprise.

Skied Hastings, Pioneer, and Ishnala. They were all in surprisingly good condition! Nice work to the grooming crew! I skated and there weren't tracks set for classic, but saw classic skiers enjoying the conditions nonetheless.

Skied the Fern Dell loop, Skating, there was about 1 1/2"-2" fresh wet snow on top of the icy base left over after the recent warm weather. The trails had not been groomed. Was actually a quite nice ski - good glide in the wet snow and there was a gently snow falling with little wind. There are tracks left over from earlier grooming, but most haven't been skied in. Because it was a rather warm day, there was at least some purchase for the pole tips in the slightly soft base. Some spots had lots of leaves/needles on them, other areas were completely clean and there was nothing on the trails.

Did the Fern Dell and Turtleville loops. There was a good track consistently on Fern Dell but the detritus of leaves, pine needles and dirt was pretty bad. Turtleville had some really good sections but the hills were getting a bit packed making control an issue. The skate corduroy was completely packed on both making finding an edge a bit more difficult. This park is a wonderful place to ski and the staff does a great job prepping the trails, however, with the good use the trails are getting, the time of their skiability is shortening, so get out soon.

Grooming was a bit inconsistent on Friday. Northwest trail: part has been rolled at some point, other parts are almost totally un-groomed, you can do classic like I did, but avoid skating over there. Pioneer was more recently groomed but there weren't tracks throughout. Ishnala hadn't been groomed since the snow earlier this week and didn't have tracks except on the connector. Fern Dell was perfect, though - both skating and classic had recent grooming. So it's just kind of hit or miss.

The new 5 inches of snow had not been groomed yet. Most of the tracks were skied in and glide was pretty good considering.
