Notes

Very scenic with views of the Flambeau River and a heavily timbered landscape. Portions of the upper loop and cutoffs on the east side of the lower loop are more challenging. There is a three-sided shelter on the west side of the upper loop.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
All trails were packed/rolled this morning double wide. The corduroy pan was dropped behind the roller for a decent finish. No track was set. Likely, temperatures will be too warm to groom the rest of this week. Grooming operations will stop for the year unless significant snow falls. Hopefully next year is a better year. We had an extremely slow start to the year and less than ideal for most of the remainder. We will also be doing some major brushing/mowing, tree cutting, and culvert work on the entire trail system this summer.

Morning
Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
All trails were groomed/tracked this morning. With the recent warm temps, there are a few thin spots starting to show. The skate deck is extremely hard and will likely be icy in the early mornings. Track was set but the depth varies, generally on the shallow side. There is still some debris showing. Overall conditions remain good but will deteriorate fast. Grooming operations will slow unless conditions improve.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
All segments have been packed after the recent wet and heavy snow. There is still a lot of debris and there will likely be more after today and tomorrow's winds. Grooming plans: Trails will be groomed tomorrow morning with track being set.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
The lower "Figure 8" (Rim Creek, Squirrel Tail, Pinery Grade) were all rolled/packed. The recent snow was extremely wet and heavy. Snuss and Pelican were not packed. The trail system is littered with debris from the heavy snow breaking branches and limbs. Due to staffing/technical difficulties, the northern section my only be packed today. Regular grooming is planned to start again tomorrow.

Skied all the trails here - did my Czech Jizerska virtual race! Trails were beautiful. There was a half inch of so of new snow on top of the grooming. Starting at County W, the loops in the south were pretty well skied over. At the north end, the Pelican Trail was much less traveled, and harder to ski on with the fresh snow. That one trail also could use some mowing in the summer with brambles coming up on the edges of the trails. Overall good! One or two spots where dirt came up through the grooming.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
All trails were groomed/tracked again this morning. A light snow last night got mixed in with two passes in the southern portion (Rim Creek, Pinery Grade, and Squirrel Tail). Snuss is double wide but not tracked. The Pelican loop, Short Swing, and ridge Run are tracked with a single pass. The two alternate sections were groomed yesterday and were not gone over again today. Good conditions overall.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
All trails were groomed this morning. A wide pass was made to pull in new snow and open it up for the virtual Birkie that will be taking place starting this Saturday. All trails are in good shape. There are a few thin spots that are just north of the Mason Creek bridge on the Snuss trail. Grooming plans: Trails will be finished tomorrow with new track on the entire system.

Snuss trail was fabulous for skating. Firm and nicely groomed. Some of the other sections of trail were a bit narrow, but once the second pass is made it will be fantastic. It is quite skateable now, but will only improve. A few soft grabby spots on squirrel but I would still recommend. Such a great trail to enjoy the serene beauty of winter in Wisconsin. Thanks DNR!

Morning
Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
All trails were groomed/tracked this morning with the exception of the two alternate sections of the Rim Creek loop. The skate deck is very soft and the track is brittle due to the extreme cold temps. Only one pass was made around the trail system. When temperatures improve, a double pass will be made.
