Trail Detail
Notes
The trails wind past Clear, Hemlock, and Inkpot Lake. There are a couple of steep hills and most of the trails require intermediate skiing abilities. There is also a four mile expert trail (red loop). A shelter with a fire ring can be found on the trail.Trail Reports

No new snow since the trail was last groomed. Cut twice and tracked on all loops. Red and yellow loops are in fair condition due to debris. Other loops are in overall good condition.

I skied the outer perimeter Red trail first. There was a little over an inch of new snow in the track after the last grooming. I would rate overall trail conditions on the Red trail as very good with the exception of the moderate downhills which I would rate as fair at best. The groomer set a track on the moderate downhills which made control very difficult especially where there are turns at the bottom. The groomer did raise the track on the steep downhills so control was much better there. Then I skied the Blue trail. I would rate overall conditions as very good including the downhills. Then I skied the Greed trail. Believe it or not, the groomer set a track on the steep downhills so I just walked down that one. IMO, this downhill is really not skiable unless it is combed without a track. Finally, I skied the Yellow trail. Unfortunately, snowshoers destroyed the track there so I would rate overall conditions as poor. That's what my fourth photo shows. Temperatures started out in the mid-teens and leveled off around 20 degrees. I skied a total of 20.2 kilometers.

Lots of wet heavy snow and high winds wreaked havoc with the trail again. Packing snow and clearing the trail of trees and limbs down and hanging into the trail took place as the snow fell overnight. All loops were rolled early this morning. All loops were leveled and tracked this afternoon, finishing tracking just after dark. Trail and tracks might be soft in areas, but hopefully will firm up well overnight. Some damage to the track on the first part of the yellow loop from a couple of hikers with dogs who were encountered while setting track. Expect some forest debris on the trail. Overall pretty good conditions.

The trail has received a couple of inches of new snow on an icy base after warm weather and rain this past week. More snow is needed before grooming operations will resume.
