Skied all the trails. Was worried tracks would be icy but they were not. Enough snow had blown in the tracks to cover ice and hard wax worked fine. Tree debris in the tracks was somewhat of a sticky issue, mostly on the lower Pincushion loop. But overall conditions were great considering low snow and freeze thaw cycles the trails have endured. Thanks to the trail crew for the wind blown clean up and grooming.

Went back to Pincushion to ski the advanced trails I skipped yesterday due to poor wax. Conditions were the same, with temps starting just above freezing. Today I used grip tape which worked much better than skins or hard wax yesterday with the same conditions. Coverage still very good and tracks were holding up nicely. I could do the moderate hills in the tracks but had to get out on the steeper hills. Happy with the day!

Pincushion conditions were better than I expected given the warm above freezing temps. Coverage was complete. with only a few bits of dirt and grass on the lower side of Pincushion loop. I did not ski the Advanced loop or Morris Maze but everything else was fine except for challenging wax conditions. My extra blue didn't work so I switched to skins which did not work in the tracks on the hills but were fine on flatter sections. Grooming was recent and tracks and deck were firmer than I thought given the warm temps.

Staying in Castle Danger area and was unsure if conditions merited the long drive to Grand Marais. So figured I'd post a report for anyone else in the same predicament... It was lovely at Pincushion today. Did 15 miles and I think close to 100% of the system. Trails were on the soft side with the warm weather but coverage was fantastic and grooming was great. I skated, but looked great for classic too. Used my B skis but definitely could have used my best skis. Minimal debris and everything was easily avoidable.

All trails groomed and overall in nice shape! Skate deck was thin but pretty firm with just a few avoidable rocks and sticks.

Great day of skiing the northern advanced loop! It appeared everything was open and had been groomed over the weekend. There was probably a quarter inch of snow blown on to the tracks but enough people have been on the classic track that it's still in good shape. Enjoy!
