Skied Chomonix this morning around 10:30 am. The groomer was still out working the trails although I had a fresh deck to skate on. With snow earlier in the week and the additional snow last night, the deck was very soft and made for some hard going. However, it looks like it could set up for some of the best conditions of winter once the deck has set. Coverage was good, with an occasional stick poking through. I removed a few, but missed some others. When I left shortly before noon, no classic tracks had yet been set up other than the old YMCA spur. I jumped in it for some double poling and it was very nice. Thanks Anoka County groomers.

Groomed but no classic tracks set. Very soft snow with ice underneath. One skate skier passed me and it looked like a struggle with the soft snow. Still nice to be out.

I would say to use rock skis. Lots of debris from the wind storm last night on the trails (sticks, pine cones, pine needles, leaves). Almost not ski-able. Too bad because the skate deck is packed down nicely with good glide when there aren't piles of sticks. I think a good snow dump would cure it, but not much else.

The new snow made for slow but beautiful conditions. The trails have not been groomed for several days, but they were easy to skate on. There was not much tree debris and few if any bare spots. I saw many classic skiers out enjoying the fresh snow, and the conditions looked great for classic as well.

Good snow conditions throughout. Recent snowfall not groomed. Sweet classic tracks. Slow skate deck.

Trails were in great shape! Deck was firm but not icy. Double classic tracks crowded out the skate deck in a few sections. New reroute at Clubhouse was a good improvement. Classic tracks looked very good, and leaf-free.

Firsthand: Both
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
The classic tracks were in surprisingly decent shape despite the warm temperatures. Blowing snow made them relatively easy to ski in. The skate deck was hard and icy in many places. There was a fair amount of tree debris throughout the course. Until we hopefully get more snow, it would be fine for a leisurely ski when the temperatures are above freezing. Thank you groomers for your hard work!

Used my skin skis thinking to avoid problems with debris and liter. Did not solve the problem. Some sections were filled in with blown snow, a few stretches with nice deep, clear solid tracks. However most of the track was shallow and littered with bark from dying ash, box elder seed, twigs and various leaves that led to many sudden stops and near face plants. I won't classic ski here again until we get more snow.

Skied the YMCA section of the trail today. Leaves on the trail hindered the route. Track is well set, but the journey was not enjoyable due to all of the leaves in the classic track.

It was a great day to ski. The trails were groomed for both classic and skate. There were some oak leaves on the trails and a couple twigs. I am impressed by the classic trails and how well they are maintained.
