The tracked prairie trails are fine. Do not go left on the Woodland trails where the warning signs are posted. The DNR decided that this was a good week to do tree maintenance and destroyed the trails through the woods. Shredded tree debris everywhere. Very disappointing decision.

Beautiful morning. Trails were being groomed as I skied. No bare spots. Very little debris. I skated; but classic tracks looked good.

Surprisingly good for classic skiing. No bare spots, not groomed and only one other skier that I saw. It would be nice to get another couple of inches of snow but not bad.

Bottom Line: classic was easier than freestyle currently. It hasn't been groomed since the last snow and follow-up winds. I didn't try all the trails here today but stuck with ones that held the most promise given current conditions which are: a lot of spots have significant drifts but classic track skied through or around them. There is the rare thin spot where dirt and/or grass is protruding too but these can be skied around. I tried skating first but switched to classic after one lap because it was more doable with the uneven terrain mostly due to drifts. I saw one other group skating but most folks were classic only while I was there. Note: I didn't try Morningside Trail today as it had a significant section that was just ice from all the rain in the prior storm and I doubt it has improved.
