Trail Reports

2021-2022 season
Reports 1 to 7 of 7    Month: Jan | Dec
Friday, January 28, 2022
Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Freshly groomed, but the base is getting a little thin. The tracks were generally in very good condition, but there was some grass poking through in the prairie sections. The skate deck looked a little rougher, but still decent.

Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Did a loop on all the trails. Track was nicely set. A few broken sections of track, but mostly good. There is some grass poking through on the most eastern section of the MorningSide Trail. Hills were easily traversed both ways as the snow conditions allowed for good grip and controlled bombing down the hills. Luckily no hikers have ruined the trails yet but there are a few skijorers enjoying the trails and dogs kind of chew up the base. Go enjoy.

Freshly groomed. Ample snow throughout. Very nice single-track on the Woodland Trail loop; trails on the open hillside are somewhat windblown -- and much colder in the wind. Bundle up and enjoy!

Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Great conditions for classic skiing on the trails. A new base of fresh snow and freshly laid classic tracks make for great skiing. I skied the Woodland Trail and the Morningside trail and both are in great condition.

Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
Trails were pretty icy but skiable this morning. It seems they've not been groomed in a few days. There were some classic tracks, but a good bit of debris all over.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Good or very good conditions throughout, but the tracks in the wooded area are not very good. The tracks in the open areas are more well established. There are a few spots with a little stubble and where it’s a little thin, but nothing substantial. Skate lanes looked very good to excellent.

Morning
Firsthand: Classic Observation
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
Trails are rolled and groomed for skating and with classic tracks set. Skate deck looked good and I saw one skate skier who seemed to be doing alright. I skied the Oak Savannah trail in the classic tracks and it is in decent shape for the first day of the season, though tracks are still fairly thin with stalks of grass sticking up in some places. Morningside trail is groomed but I didn't ski on it. Woodland trail doesn't look like it has enough snow yet to ski on.
