Trail Reports

2017-2018 season
Reports 11 to 17 of 17    Month: Apr | Mar | Feb | Jan | Dec
Sunday, January 28, 2018
Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
Trails were well groomed but low snow in some areas so the track was down to dirt in just a couple areas. Some other areas had excellent snow, soft and smooth. Trails nearest the trailhead were slightly icy just from our warmup last week and being used the most. Good overall!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
2.5 inches of new snow on Sunday. Groomed all trail segments today and set tracks. Some pine bark, sticks in things showing through on Old Pine Loop, but the rest of the segments are nicely covered with snow.

[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Awesome morning at Wolf Lake! Two inches of new fluff over the tracks. Cold wind around the north side of Old Pine. Otherwise sunny and spectacular!

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
I "Skied in" tracks on all trail segments today. The 2 inch snow from Thursday has not been groomed (yet), but following the previously set tracks wasn't a problem. Saw only 3 skiers today (in -1 heat), so a great place to get some solitude. Snow has covered up the sticks and grass, so "B" skis are a good choice.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
Light snows since last grooming was (barely) enough to set track. If light snow falls this weekend, that should cover the debris showing through the tracks in several areas.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, Rock skis ]
Groomed 3 inches of fluffy snow that fell last night. 1-2 inches of ungroomed snow on ground before last nights snow. 1.0 inches of base. No tracks set, but ok skate skiing. Did not groom the 4 km Shelter Trail, but all others trails are groomed.

Evening
Observation
Nothing groomed. Only 2 inches of snowfall on Sunday night. Need 4+ inches of snow for first grooming, otherwise many of the leaves and pine needles under the snow get pulled up with grooming equipment.
