Many thanks to the RASTA-farians who groomed a miracle, with so little to work with. The track is firm, bare spottage minimal, conditions - amazing. The new section of trail is looking very good. Also a big hand to the Oneida County Forestry Department: the fifteen full color maps, with circles and arrows, and a paragraph under each, explain the concept of multi-use resource management perfectly. Educational and inspirational, Earth First!

Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Skied the west loop. It had been groomed previously, but I started by “skiing in” the 3” snowfall from last night, then met the groomer setting track. The fresh set track looks OK. Nose Lake trail has a few sections with a pine canopy, and I suspect it’ll be thin in those areas, but certainly not enough to avoid skiing there. Also, my wife snowshoed the new snowshoe trail and said it was a great addition to this system.

The west loop was tracked today.  Tracks will be shallow in spots along having a thin deck. It is very skiable, but use B skis.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
Both east and west loops were brushed this morning. However, the west loop looks to be more skiable than the east loop. The deterrent on the east loop is a lot of exposed vegetation, along with rocks beginning to appear. The deck on both loops is thin, but the west loop lacks the amount of vegetation poking through, and fewer rocks. Keep the rock skis handy.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
We received 2 inches of snow last night. That along with the 2+ inches on the ground allowed us to finally roll today. The snow compacted nicely and expect a deck of 1-2 inches. There are some thin spots, along with lots of stubble poking through. Until we get more snow, there will be no tracks set. The trail is skiable, but bring the rock skis, not the new Christmas ones.
