This trail is very hilly, rolling and scenic. It winds around five different lakes, through stands of maple, aspen and balsam. There are a couple fairly steep hills requiring intermediate skiing skills. A shelter with a fire ring is located on the trail.

Observation
[ Trails Open: All ]
All loops were last tracked on Monday. There is still a well formed track, but the trail is currently very icy. With snow in the forecast and warmer temps there could be some decent skiing yet if one times the daily freeze/thaw cycle right, but it appears our ski season is coming to an end.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
We received freezing rain, rain, and a light coating of snow over the weekend. All loops were cut three times to chop up and mix the ice and hard snow base and then tracked. Light snow falling while the trail was being groomed left a coat of fresh snow on the green loop and part of the blue loop (it stopped snowing before grooming was complete). Good conditions. Likely quite fast.

I skied the green loop this late afternoon and conditions are very fast. Great tracks all the way around. It is the fastest glide of the season for me.

At 1:30 pm I skied the Blue loop. There was about one half inch of new snow, that had already been skied in. It was absolutely beautiful skiing at 16 degrees. I also skied the Blue loop bypass which is fantastic. Hilly terrain with nice downhills. The last hill before the junction with the main trail was a long fabulous glide.

Skied all trail loops at midday and they were still in very good condition after yesterday's grooming. Still a bit soft and slow with all of the new snow from earlier in the week. We always enjoy this single-track classic gem. Thanks for the grooming!

A wonderful afternoon on the red outer loop, about 15 k of single track skiing joy. If you're old school, like the woods close, the trail twisty turny, undulating, views of lakes, varied tree mixes, this is for you. Single digits or work must have kept the crowds away as we were forerunners. Too bad, they missed the best day of the year.

Grooming and new tracks are perfect as usual. I skied the green loop starting 3pm, temperature of 11 degrees. Perfect grip and glide with swix green wax on wooden skis. It's very beautiful today with the new snow, sunshine and very quiet.
