Wow - what great trails! We skied the Wolf Track and Thunder Loop and they were in impeccable condition for skating. Firm, crispy but well-cut and granular for easy climbing and safe snowplowing. It helped that temps were in the low 20s. We used the classic track set for some of the less steep downhills and they were also in very good condition even if icy - deep enough and well-defined. Overall very little litter and no bare ground. Thanks to the fantastic groomer and club. We’ll be back!

Grooming

I made a pass on the skate lane on all trails. The cutters were going on average of half an inch. There is not enough snow to do anything with the classic track so it remains icy and scary fast. Given the low amount of base and the weather forecast for 40s next week, it is unlikely we will groom again this year. Spring conditions should hold up but there are bare spots peaking through on Long Lake, atomic drop and snag loop already. Its been a good season considering the low snow amounts.

Well the forecast snow did not happen, bummer. We scratched up the skate lane to take out ruts on all trails. We were not able to do anything with the classic track. The classic track is between 1/2 and full depth depending on the shade protection on the trail. The track will be icy. Sugar has been in great shape this year but there is not much base to work with. Please ski when the temps are near or below freezing to not damage the trail. If you are leaving a rut in warm weather, please consider coming back another day. One skier can ruin the trail in short order. Thanks.

We groomed the skate lane on all trails this morning. New classic track was set on Rajala. For all other trails we left the existing track as is. Trails are in good condition, too bad winter finally arrived.

Had not been groomed since 3" new snow on Saturday but it was great fun skiing in the classic tracks. Herringbone uphill in fluffy snow and snowplowing down the steep hills was great fun. Skate ski 24k would have been a challenge.

We groomed all trails this morning, setting new classic track on everything but Sunset Rip. The temps were falling as we were out and the trail was setting up pretty fast. Should be good skiing tomorrow and Saturday. We will schedule another grooming if we get snow. We had a lot of branches blow down with the winds over the last two days, Thank you to those that took the time to remove the larger stuff. There is still a lot of twigs on the trail, any additional help in flicking those off the trail will be appreciated. Thanks and enjoy!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
We packed and groomed the 4" of new snow we received Friday. The trails are likely to be soft over the weekend and we will probably groom again midweek. We really needed the new snow. Race skis could be used except for 2 rocks on the short steep East loop trail and one rock that is marked on the Finnish trail. Everything else is in excellent condition.

Beautiful scenery day out there. Fresh grooming yesterday made dirty spots in the trails more visible. I used race skis, but had to be careful. I’d recommend B skis at best. All the trails were groomed and in good shape other than the dirty patches, which are avoidable.
