Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
Another fun classic only trail system. Bob does a great job of grooming and laying down great tracks. Mostly easy trails with a few intermediate hills. East side has some logging going on so some of trail is closed. There is a connecting trail to Sylvania wilderness trails. The UPers have a saying "No such thing as bad weather only bad clothing." After a week of very cold temps, I agree only bad clothing!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Groomed all trails. With the new snow from a couple of days ago things worked up nicely. Tracks are as good as they can be and the deck is firm.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Dragged and tracked the trail this morning and groomed this evening. Tracks and deck look great and with cold weather things should set up nicely. Looks like the conditions will be excellent for the weekend.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Groomed all trails tonight. Tracks look excellent and skiing should be really good. There is still snow on the trees so the trail is beautiful. The picture below was taken before I groomed today.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Packed and tracked all trails tonight to take care of the 4-5" of snow we got in the last 24 hours. Full depth tracks everywhere. Depending on how it sets tonight, the trails could be a little soft. Conditions look to be very good.

Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Fine fun in the sun. When I got back, the other folks on the trails, and I, exchanged reportage at the parking lot, and I guess my Christmas present, was the eastern loop, which I am happy to say, was not destroyed by logging last winter, and was pretty good. Icy, a few bare spots, yes, but overall, totally satisfying. A good base for what is to come, hopefully.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Groomed at night after the 3" of new snow. After all the work volunteers did picking up tree litter after the wind last week, the new snow conditions look to be great. Near as I could tell at night the tracks look to be excellent and with the nice hard base skiing should be terrific.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
We took a hit on the ski trail with the high temps and strong winds this past week.  An incredible amount of tree litter and more than a few trees fell on the trail.  Thanks to 38 hours of volunteer time the trails have been cleaned up.  We lost much snow but fortunately still have a good base.  I was able to smooth out the trails and set a track that is good in many places but shallow in others.  The base is hard but not icy and the trail is definitely skiable.

Packed trails and set track. Too much snow to do a good leveling job pack the trails better. It will be soft but the trails are skiable.

[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
All trails are packed, leveled, and have track set. Conditions are good or better for early season. The East Side has some grass and small, thin growth visible, not pretty but should not cause damage to skis. Help support the trails by donating online at Donate or send in a donation.
