2021-2022 season

Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
This was the place to be today. A 4-hour classic ski hitting many trails several times. Almost all trails are open and the tracks are now skied in after today's users. Universal klister with violet cover seemed to work well in all but the sunniest areas. Almost a foot of base which seemed to be well traveled by wolves. Lakeview Trail was getting the most exposure from the sun and wind. The rest of the trails were protected and quite comfortable.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Winter keeps on giving. All trails except Carey creek are groomed and tracked today after 4" of snow on Wednesday and cooling temps today. Highland, Southern lights, and Black Forest are in good condition. Lake view is good but has a couple of bare spots as you get just north of Black Forest.

Thought I would get a quick run in today. Did Carey Creek, and Highland trails. Tracks were in fair to good condition, some icy spots. Parts of the tracks were fairly messed up.

Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
The weather couldn’t have been better this morning at Carey Lake. Now all trails have been groomed and tracked, and the snow has held up well so far. Still some vegetation poking through, most of which is easily avoidable. Thanks to Hibbing Parks and Rec!

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic Secondhand
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
Couldn't wait to get out to the trails today, and I was not disappointed. I skied Black Forest and Southern Lights, which were both well packed and tracked. The occasional vegetation pops through, but it's easily avoided. Highland is also open per the ski club website. I remembered incorrectly and made my way through the Lakeview trail, which is mostly packed, but no tracks. That would be because it's not open yet! I don't regret it.

Kudos the the Kraig and team! Black Forest, Southern Lights and the Highland Trails are groomed, tracked and in pretty good shape. Awesome work fixing the lake view bypass! B skis with caution until the next snow.
