Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
Sub freezing temps keeping the snow hard and fast. A bit of softening from the sun for a small window of sweet spot skiing in the afternoon. At dusk, we skied on the recently groomed trails. Solid well defined tracks, very fast! Checked the skate lane and was level and holding good structure. Recent grooming holding out well on other trails. Should be another nice day Sunday and maybe a bit of fresh snow in the afternoon. Outside the groomed trails, the crust skiing (and biking) has been incredible. Fat bike singletrack loops remain in some of the best condition of the season. Trails will remain open until snow is gone. We are waiving the trail fee. Ski at own risk, assume responsibility. Lodge, lodging, and guest services in the lodge have ceased for the season.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
A textbook spring day with a short burst of heavy snow in the morning, clearing with sunshine than clouding up again and temps dropping back down to the 20's. This afternoon during the transition period, we groomed setting new track on Mother Hen, Poki Loki, and Mother North Star. Skaters Waltz was also groomed for skate only. Trails groomed earlier in the week still have great track definition and skied very nice in the afternoon with the fresh snow when the temp was dropping. Other trails offering a variety of conditions for all tastes. With cooler temps on tap Friday, Saturday and Sunday morning, should be some nice late season skiing. Unfortunately, the lodge is now closed for the season with no lodging, guest services and no ski rental. The trails are open for ski and fat bike use at no charge, use at own risk, assume responsibility, no emergency service available.

[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
A textbook day of spring skiing. Another hard freeze last night had the trails hard and fast this morning than gradually warmed up to the 30's softening the corn snow just the right amount for bit better control but still great glide. Really nice spring skiing in the afternoon. We touched up Skaters Waltz at the transition time and was setting up again nicely at dusk when things were freezing down. Little change in the tracks from last report and should be a good rest of the week and weekend for skiing. With cooler temps forecasted, conditions could be a bit faster unless we get some snow tonight/tomorrow. Grooming on select trails tomorrow and Friday planned.

Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
Temps in the single digits last night froze the base down rock solid. A skiff of new snow early this morning before clearing off to a bluebird day. The trails groomed yesterday stayed fast all day today with temps staying below 20 and made for really fun skiing if comfortable with speed. The skaters I talked to said both Skaters Waltz and North Loup skied nice. More texture on Skaters with just enough give for edging. North Loup will be good to ski earlier with a smooth flat base, not much structure than Skaters later when starts to warm up. Also in the mix are lakes and fields for crust skiing! The crust is perfect now and should be great in the mornings all this week, into the weekend. Trails not recently groomed/tracked still have some definition and should be good skiing in the transition periods. The fat bike loops are in incredible shape. Please ride before temp hits 32 degrees or before noon for good measure. Touch up grooming on select trails most likely later in the week.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Partial, Good skis ]
A nice weekend of Spring like skiing. Saturday morning was about as good as it gets before it warmed up, making the recent fresh snow slower skiing. Didn't really freeze down much last night so the skiing was a bit softer today but by sunset the temp had already fallen to the upper 20's. Early evening went out grooming setting new track on Sap Run, Sukkerbusk and JibFly. Also combed out the skate lane on Skaters Waltz. Late evening Jonell and I skied Sap Run and Sukkerbusk. The tracks had already frozen down and were fast and fun! Looks to remain cold for tomorrow so skiing will be more icy like most of the day until mid/late afternoon. Rest of the week should be more typical spring conditions and good skiing at the transition times. We will be touching up skate lanes as needed, possible set new track on more trail, depending on weather and skier traffic. We are closing for the season on March 17th, hopefully everyone is at the World Cup!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
Beautiful March day and skiing. The snow held out great and skiing was really nice. Morning low of 4 cooled the base and forest down nicely. Hi temps stayed low 30's and only snow transformation was on sun faced areas. Reports were good from both skiers in the morning and in afternoon. At dusk we groomed the skate lanes on Skaters Waltz and North Loup and also reset the track on the side of North Loup. Tracks set yesterday held out good and should be a very nice morning of skiing on Saturday. Looks to be warmer in the afternoon and skiing will slow down as the day passes.

Another quick hitting storm this morning with blizzard like conditions for a few hours resulted in an inch or so of new snow, 4-6" inches in drifted areas. Once the weather sorted itself out, we went out grooming renovating the deck and mixing new snow, collecting sticks thanks to the Ginzu groomer instead of power-tilling them and making the deck dirty. New tracks cut on Sap Run, JibFly, Sukkerbusk and Twin Lakes. Skaters Waltz groomed skate only. A ski at dusk to check the trails found conditions getting really nice with the skies clearing off completely and the deck tightening up. This evening we groomed Skaters Waltz again. With temps looking to drop to single digits tonight, skiing should be really nice in the morning. Trails not groomed will have the new snow, slightly transformed, to be skied in. Tomorrow afternoon we plan to groom Skaters again and head north to groom out the skate lane on North Loup and reset the track on the side.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
We were treated to an unexpected 1-2" of superfluff snow this morning. Made for bit slower skiing today but smiling faces for those that were out enjoying the lovely conditions. This afternoon we reset tracks on Sap Run, JibFly and Sukkerbusk classic trails. We groomed parts of the skate trails and will be out this evening finishing grooming on the Skaters Waltz and North Loup skate lanes and Suicide Hill. We are digging deep into the transformed snow base, mixing the old snow with the freshly fallen snow so the skiing will be the best possible when it warms up again. Temps look favorable for continued good spring skiing. With that said, expect changing conditions and be prepared for a variety off offerings on the skiing deck. Trails not groomed should be some nice skiing, use caution. Fat bike trails will be left alone with the solid deck underneath and reports from riders out today were good.

[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
Trails are open under spring like conditions. The recently groomed classic trails are holding out great with good track definition. There has been minimal snow loss to the rock solid transformed snow base that ranges from 1-2 feet. We have been in the high 20's to mid 30's for highs and down to single digits for lows with even a few sub zero nights as recently as this past weekend keeping the base intact. This afternoon we classic skied on JibFly, Sap Run and Sukkerbusk and found very good to excellent spring skiing. There was a very light dusting of snow from last night that slowed the tracks down just the right amount making for really nice skiing. A check of the skate deck found a level and smooth surface, not much structure left from the most recent grooming but plenty of edging purchase . We will leave the tracks alone for now and most likely condition the skate lane on Skaters Waltz and North Loup tomorrow or Wednesday. The fat bike loops are in fantastic condition, best riding conditions of the season. The "Most" option is selected on the Trails Open feature as we do not recommend skiing on Lucky's Loype, Bullhead Lake, and Wavy Gravy trails. Be aware with spring skiing, conditions and surface can change quickly.
