Grooming
[ Trails Open: Partial, B skis ]
Hard freeze overnight set the base and yesterday's afternoon grooming up nicely. Textbook spring skiing this morning under brilliant sunshine. Good to see folks out to enjoy. With warm temps forecasted overnight and rain moving in, no grooming planned and skiing looks to be on hold for a few days. Not quite ready to call it a season thought based on the long term....

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Partial, B skis ]
Caught the sweet spot on a morning ski. Incredible April sunshine and such a treat to be skiing this late in the season. Deck slowed down fast by 11am with the fresh snow but base was firm and glide good. Nice to see a few other people out. After skiing ran the Ginzu cleaning up the surface and pressing new structure. Intense sun will eat some of the texture and melt some snow but temps staying below 40 and another hard freeze tonight should provide some decent skiing Saturday morning before noon. Fat bike grooming set up hard and was good riding early this morning as well.

Another 2" of snow overnight after yesterday's grooming bringing 48hr snowfall to 10". Ran the Ginzu groomer on the 4km loop this morning and groomed out nicely. The new snow insulated the base which prevented a hard freeze down but the snow on top was dry, around 30 degrees, and combed out well. A few slush areas and the base is saturated but has solidified after 12 grooming passes the past 24 hours and setting up proper. Skied mid afternoon, which wasn't best time to ski, but the base was firm and beautiful April skiing. We are on track to freeze down good tonight and should be good April skiing in the morning. Also groomed 5km of fat bike trail. Having not groomed the track in a while it was pretty tricky and not sure how it will set up but it packed well and if it freezes all the way down, could be really nice riding.

As of 8pm around 5-6" of new snow today. Ended up grooming today, focusing on a 4km loop that has the best coverage with no bare spots. (east side of Skaters Waltz and Sukkebusk) Two grooming sessions, early afternoon and early evening. Basically pressed the new snow into the slushy base. There is a lot of moisture in the base so the new snow only packed down on the surface to a inch or less. After grooming went out skiing about 7pm and temp was just starting to drop. The snow that continues to fall was starting to stick to the trees and the surface was really nice skiing considering how warm and wet the snow was today. If it doesn't snow too much tonight, the base should freeze down. A bunch of snow will insulate the base. Either way, should be some nice late season skiing in the morning. Will be back out in the morning grooming as temps look to continue to drop. Late season skiing Friday and Saturday mornings look favorable on this 4km loop. We will not be grooming any other trail but this loop that has a nice mix of terrain can skied in both directions.

We were just cool enough to have the precipitation early this morning fall as snow. Around 3-4" of very wet snow. Skied at lunch time after the snow had stopped. Was very slow but slow skiing is better than no skiing! The base is now very wet, saturated and could be tricky to groom in the morning if more new snow that is predicted falls on top of the existing base. Given the time of year, we will still try to groom, using it as a learning experience with optimism it will pay off later in the week when temps are predicted to drop.

We had a really nice morning and early afternoon of spring skiing. Skied the 9km loop and found pretty incredible conditions for early April. Friday's grooming still holding out well thanks to cold nights, cooler days and folks over the weekend skiing before things got soft and which left no ruts. Warmest day since the most recent snowfall ate it some of the base and with rain forecasted tonight and tomorrow conditions could go south fast. We are keeping eye on the end of the week and optimistic for one more grooming run and end of week and Saturday morning skiing. Stay tuned.

Spring conditions. Fast skiing reported this morning as trails were slow to soften with cooler than forecasted and overcast conditions. Friday's afternoon grooming holding out just fine and should be another skiable Sunday with springlike conditions.

A great day at MapleTwig. Good reports from the skiers today. No foolin', hard to believe it's April 1st. Hard freeze last night set yesterday's grooming up nicely. This afternoon the same 9km was combed out for skating. Just one area on North Loup opened up otherwise the coverage is good and Saturday morning should be sweet spot goodness 9-11. Might be a little icier for the early morning skiers but grooming this afternoon should extend the better skiing later tomorrow.

Went out for a headlamp ski early this morning and found fantastic late season conditions that skied like mid winter. Just a few small low areas on Skaters Waltz that were frozen slush could ski to side. North Loup was near perfect. This afternoon Keith Ginzu renovated and combed Skaters and North Loup again. Should freeze down nicely and be fantastic in the morning. Will be a bit warmer tomorrow so getting out early is key.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Partial, Good skis ]
We surpassed 100 inches of total snowfall of the season with 8-9" new snow overnight. Today we worked 9km of trail, skate grooming North Loup and Skaters Waltz. (No tracksetting) North Loup had a bit more snow so we snowmobile packed, roll packed than ran the Ginzu late afternoon. Temps are in the 20's setting up mid winter conditions for Thursday morning. Get out early for best skiing!
