Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: Partial, Good skis ]
I was excited to get on snow and carved out some time between teaching online to head out to Grand Ave Nordic Center. The temperature was about 38° and the snow was transforming from a bit crusty to a wet glaze in the classic tracks. Perfect conditions for my Salomon G2 nowax skis. I had perfect grip and nice glide which made for a very enjoyable break from the Zoom screen. The stadium area was fully covered in snow and since the downhill area was closed there were tracks set up a portion of the downhill trail. It looked like the snow guns were in position on the rest of the trail to be fired up as soon as the temps drop back down. Really looking forward to the whole system being open.

Great skiing out at GANC. Many thanks to Erik and the Spirt crew for making the most of the snow that they have been able make, and allowing XC skiers to us the bottom of the downhill runs. Double thanks for setting tracks all the way up! I classic skied on skins, and Josie skated. As expected warm temps thawed the top layer. We skied from 4-5 p.m. and things were really starting to firm and glaze up, despite the fact that it was still well above freezing. Utilizing the lower angle hill at bottom of the downhill and the stadium I was able to repeat about a 1 km loop. Looks like temps will make snow making more favorable soon. Keep up the great grooming Spirit!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Partial, Good skis ]
Stadium has been refreshed this morning with skate deck and tracks. The loop around the lower alpine runs has also been groomed for skating and a classic track. Be cautious is you do venture out on the alpine areas as you may encounter vehicles/equipment from the maintenance department. Snow is soft and will probably stay on the softer side of things for a while, as we see high temps in the 30s and 40s. The overnight cool down should help solidify things until the next grooming session. We hope to resume snowmaking operations once some colder overnight temps move in.

Truly excellent conditions, limited terrain. Mostly did continuous CCW Stadium Loops. Will be an invaluable asset this week, considering forecast of warm temps.

Another good morning down at Grand! Tracks and skate deck have been refreshed and the Stadium loop is looking great. Snow is a little softer than yesterday and should be pleasant for both skating and striding.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Partial, Good skis ]
Welcome back! We have the Stadium loop pushed out and tracked for skiing, all 400 glorious meters of it. Snow is all man made but in very good condition, tracks may be a little icy in a few spots. We really appreciate everyone’s patience with our difficult snowmaking season this far, warm temps and no help from natural snow have really hindered progress compared to last season. We are snowmaking again in the upper loops with the colder temps we’ve been receiving overnight and hopefully that will continue for some time now. Enjoy!
