The recent snow was nicely groomed and the conditions were great. There were a lot of people out so the classic track was wearing down, but it was in pretty good condition with only a few spots of ice.

The recent snow filled in some part of the classic track, and also covered the leaves that had fallen. Generally good skiing, very few icy spots. Maybe one nearly bare spot. In some spots the track was barely there. For northern IL skiing, I'd say very good conditions.

First time at LB, I skied the outer loop. The skate deck was a combination of reasonably firm to soft. The wind had a chance to blow over the skate deck in a few places. Only a few spots showed a little dirt poking through. B skis are a good choice. Slow snow but it's great to be skiing on real snow in December.

Skied the outside loop (3.5 km, 2.2 miles) at 6:30 am. Reasonably good classic track considering what they had to work with. Some icy spots and one or two bare patches on grass so use your B skis or rock skis.

Skate deck quite soft, and parts of the big loop have snow blown on top. Inner loop near parking had the best conditions.
