Great time with excellent conditions on the Hyland trails, classic skiing early this afternoon. It felt warmer than expected in the sun.

Fast skiing in the sunshine this afternoon at Hyland. The classic tracks were great, and the skate deck was fairly hard packed. Frog town is open, and it looks like they're close to adding Scenic Foothills with new piles of snow ready to go!

Pretty much as good as it gets. Hyland in peak condition. Snow is packed and fast. New sections open. The Hyland team can work miracles.

Spent most of my time this morning on Frog and Willow as it had the best conditions. Hyland is doing a great job giving us some excellent skiing but the snow on Star loop in the tracks was really soft. More trail is open albeit a small section - the bypass for the Star loop hill is now open to the chalet. Word of caution - the right classic track near the turn is MIA - so probably best to hop out of the tracks and step turn around the way.

At 1:00 pm conditions were very good. Moderate sugar on Willow and Star. On Frog Town, only sugar was on the right angle turn climb but it was moderate. My senior citizen self was able to skate the first lap non-stop for only the second time this season. Might have been a little slower than yesterday. Skier traffic was moderate.

Firm classic tracks all the way around out to Frog pond. Some sugar on the trails but a great morning for a ski before the bitter cold hits.
Plenty of post holes from the deer.

Hallelujah! Frogtown is finally open. Was wondering why the parking lot was so full when I arrived at 11 am. Thought it might be the conditions with the 29 degree temperature. It was but it was the conditions on the now open Frogtown, which were excellent. With the traffic, some modest amount of sugar had accumulated on Frogtown's right angle, uphill turn but not enough to slow me from making the full climb. And whatever the physics were, somehow yesterday's slow, new snow had metamorphosed and the Willow downhill was running fast again. There was the usual accumulation of sugar on Willow out bound as well as some on the two Star climb's. But at least on my first lap I was able to fully skate both - a first for me on Star's west-east climb. It looks like further work was done on the west-east climb bypass next to the chalet parking lot last night and it will hopefully be open soon.

Frog Town is open! I was on classic skis this morning and was so pleased to see that Frog Town was open. The tracks in Frog Town were just plain great, the rest of the course was just OK in comparison. There was one snow weighted branch that was in your face but I got tired of it and stopped to snap it back. I would admit that I spent most of my time on Frog Town, the rest of the course was good but I didn't get near the kick or glide.

Frog town is now open...at least the first half of it. Great conditions considering how little natural snow we've had. Kudos to the team at Hyland for all their hard work! There were a lot of people out for a Tuesday morning. Some spots are a bit sugary, but the vast majority, especially newly open areas are in great shape.

With some late snow and relatively warm overnight temps, the Star and Willow loops were OK as of 6:45 am. A lot less sugar, but a bit soft. Even so, it was a pretty good skate deck. Frog Town was fantastic, so glad it opened today. The skate deck on Frog Town was firm and the snow was in fabulous condition - no sugar whatsoever on the Frog Town uphills. Beautiful morning for a ski, thank you Hyland groomers and staff!
