Amazing conditions for fast skate skiing on the entire snowmaking loop this morning! Even the steep descent from Boulder Ridge was in excellent shape. Fast, but enough loose snow to maintain control, and no mounds or furrows. Snow is still 2-4 feet deep on most of the trail. Classic tracks were also deep and well-defined. It was starting to get a little deeper/sugary on the steeper uphill sections by 11:30, but still very good. Snow was a little gray in the area near the chalet, but everywhere else was pristine. Three Rivers says they're going to groom through Sunday.

A delightful spring ski! It looks like there is 1-3 feet of base left, and the groomers worked it. Tracks were good, though getting soft by 1 o'clock. A little dirty snow, minimal leaf debris, and no real ice. The deck was mushier than the tracks. I used B skis, but good skis would have been fine.

Epic snow conditions this morning at Hyland - another great Saturday for 50K of fast skating loops. What a great way to end my season. Boulder Ridge was in great shape! Thanks for the incredible consistent grooming, Hyland team! Kudos to the trail maintenance staff, there were a ton of happy skiers out this morning!

Not for newbies or beginners today: icy, slick and fast. If advanced or intermediate enjoy the well groomed man made trails. See you next season!

Skied a few laps on the manmade loop early. It was soft but skiable the whole way around. Pretty fast and fun. Only two days of grooming left! Only a couple of very small spots that weren't solid snow, and they were easy to avoid.

At 1:00 pm, trail conditions were poor. It was mushy corn that was a little better in the shaded areas. Still plenty of base and the downhills that I did - top of Scenic and back - were safe and I still got a good run from top of Frog Town to just short of the timing shack. I only skated to bottom of Boulder. I didn't want to risk Boulder's downhill for fear of a ligament-ripping sudden deacceleration.

The manufactured snow base remains solid after the rain and warm temps with approximately a 2' base. Grooming continues. I would expect excellent early morning conditions at Hyland this weekend as temperatures cool through the weekend.

Pretty much only one thing on the dinner menu at Hyland, mashed potatoes with just a little gravy. It sounded more sploosh than schuss, and gliding sounded like a bubbling brook. The good news is there's plenty for everyone for days! Seemed like the full width of the 5k skate deck still had a good depth, a groom this morning and a quarter inch of wet snow today. Only one spot to squeeze past approaching the boulder ridge climb where there's a bunch of tractor tracks(?), Looks like it could easily get groomed back to normal. Huge shout out groomers!

Had a good ski on an old pair of RCS fish scales. There was a bit of gray in some of the snow, but not bad. The track got faster each lap as the new snow got skied in. Skating looked OK, but the deck was getting soft as would be expected. I saw at least 2 feet of base in most places, so hopefully they can stay open.

The whole manufactured loop is still open, Star loop is partially blocked and rerouted due to changes from the tree trimming. 4:00 is definitely not the best time to ski with the high sun angle and 64 degrees. It was pretty slow and sloggy and hot. Still, it's fun to get out and ski no matter how slow it is. Thanks, Three Rivers, for continuing to groom here!
