2020-2021 season
Reports 11 to 20 of 24    Month: Mar | Feb | Jan | Dec

Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Good skis ]
The skijor trail was groomed for skate but had no classic tracks. Was in good shape with a couple of visible dirt spots on the north side, but easy to see and ski around. Trail was in good shape and made for a nice day of skiing.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Bunker Park: Still dealing with limited base in spots. Overall, skate deck is in good condition that should firm up after the overnight lows tonight. Classic track will be in fair condition with occasional poor spots. Bunker Golf Course: More consistent base meaning good skate deck and good classic track overall. Skijor: Limited base but should be fair to good skate deck with occasional thin spots.

Skated the purple and orange loops today, the green golf course loop yesterday. Golf course was much better, with only occasional dirt. The classic track looked good too. The purple and orange loops have much more dirt, especially on the hills. Avoidable for the most part, but will deteriorate more with warm temps. Most disappointing is the hiker tracks, and even two horses! Make sure to look at a ski map, because the trail markers out in the park can be confusing.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
The golf course, park and skijor were groomed today. Conditions are as follows: Golf Course - Skate deck in fair condition with occasional thin spots, classic track was left alone due to limited base. Park - Skate deck in poor to fair condition, limited base and warm temps leading to more frequent thin/bare spots especially toward northern end of the park. Skijor - Skate deck in poor condition with fequent thin spots on south end and almost unskiable conditions on northern loop.

I’m impressed with the trail conditions today considering the lack of snowfall recently. Lots of walkers on the walking paths and none on the ski trails! Huge improvement over previous visits. The grooming was great, a few easily avoidable dirt patches, with mostly perfect coverage. Golf course was better than woods.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
All skate decks in Bunker Park, Bunker Golf Course and Skijor were groomed. Bunker Golf Course skate deck is in overall good condition with occasional thin spots on top of hills, the classic tracks continue to be in overall good condition. Bunker Park is dealing with limited base leading to occasional bare spots and no classic track, skate deck is firm but in fair condition. Skijor skate deck is in fair to good condition on the south portion of trails, limited base on the trails north of the dog park mean they are in fair condition with bare spots.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
All trails groomed throughout the Park, Skijor and Bunker Golf Course on Thursday. Classic tracks were set on the Golf Course and portions of Skijor. Skate deck is in good condition with limited base, especially in windblown areas. Classic skiing on the golf course should be fair to good with thin base at the tops of hills.

Snow was firm and much faster than the last time I'd been here. A couple spots at the tops of some hills where there is some exposed dirt and/or rocks. Mostly avoidable but still wouldn't recommend good skis. Made it the first half of my ski before seeing any walkers on the trail. Came across a guy in his 30's with an off-leash german shepherd. I stopped and asked him politely to not walk on the ski trails, even tried to explain the damage that it causes--it did not go well and he was not interested in hearing it. His dog chased me and barked at me and he continued to walk down the trail in multiple locations. Reported him to the ski rental building and I was told a park ranger would be notified. Be careful out there.

Firsthand: Classic
[ Good skis ]
The trails were packed with the fresh snow on top. No track set as of tonight. Overall condition of the trail was good. Easy to stay within the groomed lines. I am new to this park. The trails were beautiful but I was very disappointed there are very limited trail signs. I didn't know where I was and ended up going many miles more than expected and it got dark before I could find my way. Bring a map of the park if you can. The scan code provided on the signs I did find did not help because you can't tell where you are.

I started just as the snow started falling and just the dusting there while I was skiing, covering any bare ground and dirty spots. With the colder temperatures the snow hardened up pretty well. Skied the Northeast loop and really didn't' have to avoid any specific spots on the trails. Trails this year have updated signage so it's a little easier to follow than previous years. It'd be nice if they had a little more discouragement of walkers, there's a fair amount of toe digs in the middle of some sections.
