Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
All trails groomed throughout the Park, Skijor and Bunker Golf Course on Thursday. Classic tracks were set on the Golf Course and portions of Skijor. Skate deck is in good condition with limited base, especially in windblown areas. Classic skiing on the golf course should be fair to good with thin base at the tops of hills.

Snow was firm and much faster than the last time I'd been here. A couple spots at the tops of some hills where there is some exposed dirt and/or rocks. Mostly avoidable but still wouldn't recommend good skis. Made it the first half of my ski before seeing any walkers on the trail. Came across a guy in his 30's with an off-leash german shepherd. I stopped and asked him politely to not walk on the ski trails, even tried to explain the damage that it causes--it did not go well and he was not interested in hearing it. His dog chased me and barked at me and he continued to walk down the trail in multiple locations. Reported him to the ski rental building and I was told a park ranger would be notified. Be careful out there.

Evening

[ Good skis ]
The trails were packed with the fresh snow on top. No track set as of tonight. Overall condition of the trail was good. Easy to stay within the groomed lines. I am new to this park. The trails were beautiful but I was very disappointed there are very limited trail signs. I didn't know where I was and ended up going many miles more than expected and it got dark before I could find my way. Bring a map of the park if you can. The scan code provided on the signs I did find did not help because you can't tell where you are.

I started just as the snow started falling and just the dusting there while I was skiing, covering any bare ground and dirty spots. With the colder temperatures the snow hardened up pretty well. Skied the Northeast loop and really didn't' have to avoid any specific spots on the trails. Trails this year have updated signage so it's a little easier to follow than previous years. It'd be nice if they had a little more discouragement of walkers, there's a fair amount of toe digs in the middle of some sections.

Skied the 5K Skijor loop - trail was pretty good, One dirt spot on the North side where there is a small steep hill and grooming dug up some dirt. Would recommend B skis until we get more snow. No classic track is set yet, was great to see it getting a lot of use. Some holes in the snow from runners on the skijor trail digging in the soft snow.

Did the straight away section of the Skijor trail and conditions were pretty good. Trails were nicely packed and groomed. However, snow was definitely thin in quite a few spots with poles hitting the ground. Overall pretty good for the first big snowfall of the winter!

Trail condition was perfect. Fresh snow made it great. Practically no sticks or bare areas. Not busy either, only saw a few people skiing.

Surprisingly good for a first of the year grooming. A couple thin spots toward the top of some of the hills but mostly avoidable. Snow still pretty soft, will hopefully stiffen up in the cold nights ahead. Would love to see increased signage to discourage walkers on the trails as they were more boot tracks than ski tracks on the trails. No classic tracks set yet.
