Grooming [ Trails: Closed, ]
|
There was 9" of new snow on the trails at 10pm. The trails are 30-50% rolled, but we ran into mechanical problems. We are not sure when grooming will resume. Please be patient.

The prairie and ball field are somewhat skied in - nothing is groomed. Given the 2-3" of fluffy snow on partially frozen ground, conditions vary by location from almost good to very marginal. On the ball field, the ground along the parking lot and Winthrop seemed mostly frozen, and the snow here packed well - nice glide for double poling and small skate pushes - classic striding looked like it was working pretty well also. On the other hand, much of the north and west sides of the ball field, where the grass was longer, was soft and glide was poor, and the surface was grabby. The prairie trails were on average better. The ground seemed frozen in more places, the snow was packed more consistently, and skating was almost good. However, there are places where the skis grab, and these places are not obvious or predictable. So going slow and caution are the watch words.
