Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
The Ball Field and the Ski Games trails were groomed this morning. The trail was soft after the grooming but should setup as the day goes on. Classic tracks that were set on Ski Games were down to an ice base in a few places, over all tracks are good to very good. All loops have plenty of snow and should firm up with more use and grooming. Happy New Year!

Classic trails are groomed and skiing was good. Just a couple spots with small bare patches or crusty ice below the snow.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
All trails except Ski Games and ball field have been rolled, skate deck groomed and repaired to our best ability after some recent 4x4 damage, classic tracks set. We will groom Ski Games and the ball field in the next couple/few days. Good skis will work. Classic skiers might want to use B skis until we groom again, and if you’re super particular about your bases go with B skis. Enjoy some fresh snow and entering a new decade!

Crusty snow that has thawed and refrozen. Sort of like crushed ice at the grocery. The tracks had been set and the trails were well groomed, but the groomers could not bring fresh snow. Uphill grip was poor. Downhills felt like I was skiing on ice with some hard ruts. I skied all of the Silver Loop, but the best conditions were in the woods at the top of the first ridge. I decided just to do that 1.2 km loop several times. I was skiing, but it wasn't really very pleasant.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
This morning we groomed Silver and Gold trails. We renovated the classic track and made a couple passes for skate. Leaves in the woods and a few bare spots in the prairie section.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
Skied everything, except ski games, on both sides of the road. Skate deck was mostly snow covered with some bare spots. Snow cover was the best in the woods but there were lots of leaves on the trails in the woods. The snow was very transformed and surprisingly fast. Trails on the south side of the road were less skied in but had more bare spots. As temperatures drop it may be getting icy.

Grooming Scheduling
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
We will not be grooming Battle Creek West until temps drop below freezing which looks like Thursday night. We plan on grooming Friday morning at least the Silver trail and the rest of the trails including Ski Games by Saturday morning. Merry Christmas!

I skied the entire system this morning. The trails are holding up nicely. Lots of oak leaves on the tails. Ski games was in the best condition with very few oak leaves.

Grooming

Gold , Silver, Bronze and Ski Games trails groomed for skating--excellent conditions. Existing classic track mostly very good in the open, but in the woods it's about 50/50 good/oak leaves; there are a lot of leaves!

After grooming I skied sections of the Silver and Bronze, then tried out the Ski Games trails as well. All in very good condition. Used my B skis, but even with some sections of significant leaf debris I would have been fine with A skis.
