Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: Partial, Good skis ]
The natural snow trails are toast. Despite that insidious night time melting the manmade was pretty good albeit slow in the 50F temps. A good classical track and the skate lane was surprisingly firm. My skins worked well and another skier had some Karhu hydro bases that had good kick and another had klister which also kicked OK. Hope the trails survive the warm weather.

They only have the 1k snowmaking loop open. It looked like they were going to try and make snow on the rest of the man-made loop. The tracks were well set and I had no problems with sticking. They also weren't icey. I got there about 2:45 and high school practice started about 3pm, but there was only one other classic skier out.

Elm snowmaking course is back to the small loop down to the practice area and including the North Donut. The trail from the practice area to the South Donut and the return up the big hill was closed for snowmaking. I did not see guns running on the South Donut. The course that was open was in very good shape.

Fast-track classic had as usual picture-perfect conditions although a bit slow. Skating on the natural-snow trails was actually pretty good - firm with good coverage. I used B skis but you could use good skis if careful. Skated Lake and Monarch trails and virtually no dirt was showing anywhere.

Great ski this morning. We did the outer loop including the Lake trail, Eagle trail and Creek trail and it was fantastic. Slow with the fresh powder but a great day for skiing!

Skied the outer loop at Elm Creek this morning. Valley Trail is packed and tracked. All other trails are lightly packed. Great to be out on the fresh powder!

Great ski. Thanks for grooming the whole course. Nice snow coverage. The outer loop is open and more sane. Skate or classic was great.
