We are now hiring for part time positions [12-25 hrs/week] in multiple departments. You must be available nights [5-9] and 1/2 of the weekend days each month to be considered for these positions. We only consider candidates who are available for at least one year of continuous employment for non-expo positions. Climbing Cave, Midwest Mountaineering Wednesday, May 14 - 5:00pm – 7:30pm -Try Before You Buy Kayak & SUP Demo Test-paddle kayaks and stand up paddleboards with our expert staff. There will be no canoes at this demo. We bring the boats, paddles, and personal flotation devices. You come dressed to play! No pre-registration required. Lake Nokomis near the main (northwest) beach Wednesday, May 14 - 6:30pm - Bouldering Divas The second Wednesday of every month is now the all women, ONLY women, evening of bouldering in the Cave! Carolyn Hansen will be on hand to answer questions and help provide a fun and relaxing atmosphere. This convenient rocky footpath surrounded by pines and birch, with stunning views of Lake Superior and distant rushing waterfalls is a Minnesota gem! Bear Paulsen, Northstar Canoes, will share his knowledge of permits, routes and general wilderness tripping techniques. He'll give you hints on avoiding the crowds whether you're basecamping or traveling daily. He'll also share ways to avoid the two most threatening parts of canoe country – bugs and bears. Minimum age 15. 612–339–3433 Climbing Cave, Midwest Mountaineering Wednesday, May 28 - 2:00pm - Slacklining Demo – Walk the Line Slacklining, the art of walking on webbing much like a tight rope, began as a pastime for climbers and has quickly become a popular outdoor activity. Since all you need is a little gear and a couple trees, it is the perfect pass time while camping, in the park or even in the backyard. Michael Paisley will cover how to safely setup a slackline and all the equipment needed. He'll demonstrate proper posture and balance techniques and give tips on how to walk the line with ease. Patio, Midwest Mountaineering Wednesday, - May 28 - 6:30pm CureSearch for Children's Cancer – Ultimate Hike Information Session The Ultimate Hike is a life changing, lifesaving adventure on the Superior Hiking Trail for individuals wanting to face this challenge while raising money towards finding a cure for children's cancer. On August 23rd you'll hike 25 miles in a day (half distance hikes available too). Through participation in Ultimate Hike for the Cure, you'll experience adventure, accomplish a once-in-a-lifetime goal, make new friends and help Cure-Search find a cure for childhood cancer, a disease that kills more children than all others combined.
