Hoigaards After Hours: Fast Wax

The next event in the Hoigaard's "X-C After Hours" Series is Thursday, December 1st at 7 pm. The evening will start with a presentation by Dan Meyer, developer of the Fast Wax line of ski wax. The evening will end with great local craft beers and socializing with Nordic friends! NOTE: Dan's clinic was originally scheduled to start at 7:30 pm but was moved up to 7:00 pm.

Hoigaards Canoe Derby Recap and Results

Jim Lind reports: Our last race of 2011 was Thursday, August 4th and it was perfect conditions. Calm water, comfortable temperatures, low humidity, sunny skies. 40 boats entered the race, a record turn-out for the 2011 series. The food at the Paddler's Potluck was tasty, a big "thank you" to everyone contributed to it, and thanks to Ryan, the grillmaster, who broiled a perfect hot dog. Everyone would agree that the best part of the evening was seeing Keith Canny back at the Derby. After the excitement he provided two weeks earlier (cardiac arrest, flipped canoe, no heart beat for 37 minutes) it was incredible to talk to him at Lake Calhoun. Keith says he should have no lasting effect. He'll be ready to compete in the next Derby race (June 2012)! For the series we had 158 different people, averaging 56 people per race. There where 315 total boats in the series, averaging 32 boats per race! We had a good year.
