Pepsi Challenge Update

Biwabik, MN - The 28th Annual Pepsi Challenge Cross Country Ski Race will be held at Giants Ridge Golf & Ski Resort on Saturday, January 21st, 2012. The Pepsi Challenge Board is looking at the possibility of a postponement of the 28th Annual Pepsi. If the area does not receive 6 to 8" of snow within the next 10 days, the board tentatively plans on moving the date into March.

The East Range Cross Country Challenges, Inc. Board is proud to announce the following sponsors of the 2012 race: The Pepsi Bottling Group, SmartWool, Great River Energy, Minnesota Power, Biwabik Area Civic Assoc., UPS, TOKO, Hammer Nutrition, Bennett & Koch Construction, Range 11 - KBJR TV6, Nature Valley Granola Bars and Cold Snap Technology.

The Pepsi is a citizen race with many skiers of all ages and abilities participating. The Pepsi Challenge is a member of the American Ski Marathon Series and an American Birkebeiner qualifier. On Saturday, January 21st, there will be five races total. The 50K & 25K Classic Races start at 9:30 am and the 50K & 25K Freestyle Races start at 10:00 am, with the 10K race starting at 10:15 am. There will be a pea soup feed on the 21st after the race at the Biwabik Park Pavilion from noon until 6:00 pm. The awards ceremony will be held at 3:00 pm at the pea soup feed.
